Probably by people who rant and wave their arms about quoting racism and bigotry who are neither black or gay!

In my experience it's rarely the people the jokes are aimed at that get offended it's the do-gooders that get offended for them who cause the biggest stink....

That's because of the history of the region during the last century.

To be honest Putin has nothing to gain in Poland unless his car happens to be dirty.

I went out with a couple of sisters with Polish surnames ..... Came in very useful when I had to write a program at Uni in Fortran77 to order a list of people's names in alphabetical order, and I chose ex-girlfriends. It was quite a long list and to test it fully I needed two surnames that were the same

I'm not so sure Poles are that lucky. Look at their neighbours - Germany on one side, Russia on the other.

I went to school with a few Polish lads. I say Polish, they were as British as anyone else, but their grandparents had resettled here following fighting for us during the war.

I'd not wanna be in the middle of those countries!

My son has a Polish surname after his Dad, his great grandparents met here in the UK as children when evacuated from their countries in WW2 (Ukraine for his Gran and Poland for his Grandad).

Sadly he has been bullied, due to stigma that Poles are here taking all our jobs (without knowing his family background). Wouldn't mind, but majority of them are bloody hard working.

Old joke from the 1970's. A Polish gent walks into the opticians and takes an eye test. The Optician asks if he can read the bottom line of the chart: Z C Y W I K

The Polish gent replies, 'Read it? I know the guy!'

I think it's ridiculous to have something against Poles, or anyone else for that matter. Being born somewhere is an accident of birth and we are all human at the end of the day. When people complain about folks coming over here, they tend to forget that Britain once controlled a quarter of the world.

Not to mention the Poles who joined the RAF (with the highest victory count) and the 2nd corps under General Anders. After the war the Poles who stayed pretty much rebuilt the roads (blame my grandfather for the potholes!) And it was a Pole who designed Britain's first nuclear power plant (he died a pauper in a shitty council house in Leicester back in the 90's too).

Many of the Poles are lovely, kind and generous people and the food is amazing.

I always tell people to try pierogi, it's my absolute favourite food in the world.

It's very similar to ravioli except the pasta is a little more 'rustic'- regular flour, an egg and sour cream. Fillings vary but my favourite is cheese & potato. You boil them, then fry them in butter and serve with sour cream.

The soups are amazing too, my favourite being sour sorrel soup with mashed egg served with rye bread.

I'm very set in my ways with food though I never try anything new from the foods I ate growing up and whenever I do I have ALWAYS regretted it!

I don't know enough poles to judge them, but I adore our friend he's totally awesome and speaks way better English than most of the English people of my generation lol

Boil them first and then fry them in butter (not oil).

Homemade ones are better but the frozen ones are much quicker and are a passable alternative.

If Kate is cooking have her make you some Golabki (pronounced ga-wump-key). They're another of my favourites.

"Where can you get these P thingys

There's a Polish shop in West Brom. They sell them in there. I picked a bag up last time I visited Xtasia. Also Lidl sometimes have a Polish week and they sell them in there too.

If Kate is cooking have her make you some Golabki (pronounced ga-wump-key). They're another of my favourites.

I did think that as there are a million polish supermarkets but I akways get strange looks when I go in there "

I always surprise them because of I'm in the shop with someone and I'm speaking to them in English I don't, as you know, have a Polish accent. When I go to the counter I then speak perfect Polish to them with an eastern Polish accent...

"Our surname is only 5 letters,

As a Pole, do you find this thread offensive?

Offensive? No, Poles have a sense of humour."

You've got try Wyesker (that's how it sounds, not how it's spelt)lol

It's a Polish sausage that is so damn moreish, you wont be able to leave it alone

It is lean pork and garlic and goes with cheddar cheese better than Spanish onion. Or you can eat it as it is.

You can boil it and have it with hard boiled eggs too.

You can get it from most supermarkets now.

It's nice added to scrambled eggs too.

Kate isn't fluent Polish but can understand it when it's spoken to her, and can make herself understood. She can't read Polish text.

I can read and write a little. My problem is that I learned Polish from my dad who learned it from his parents. They left Poland at the start of WWII so there's many words and phrases that I'm not overly familiar with. Which can make it difficult sometimes when I'm over there.

"My hubby keeps raving about Polish food now since our polish friend took some to work for lunch...

I'm very set in my ways with food though I never try anything new from the foods I ate growing up and whenever I do I have ALWAYS regretted it!

I don't know enough poles to judge them, but I adore our friend he's totally awesome and speaks way better English than most of the English people of my generation lol

Try pierogi. It will change your life!... "

Pierogi's can be savoury or sweet too

"Not to mention the Poles who joined the RAF (with the highest victory count) and the 2nd corps under General Anders. After the war the Poles who stayed pretty much rebuilt the roads (blame my grandfather for the potholes!) And it was a Pole who designed Britain's first nuclear power plant (he died a pauper in a shitty council house in Leicester back in the 90's too).

Many of the Poles are lovely, kind and generous people and the food is amazing."

My uncle Zennon came over in WW2 to fly. He was a Hurricane pilot and was pretty good by all accounts, but he refused to speak of it to us kids.

I work for a charity and we deal with lots of people from that part of the world. Maybe a couple of them have been a little rude, but in the main they have been great. Unlike other people, they never ask for a discount (Yes, people do in a charity shop!) and when we deliver furniture to them, they always help.

Yes they have "British" jobs, but sure as god made little spiders, the Brits don't want em!
