Player quotas

Interesting thoughts expressed by Wenger...

He cites examples of countries where clubs were forced to field three players who were under 21. Such players would often, he claims, become professional substitutes who would be removed with a few minutes of the game to be replaced by presumably more talented older players.

Will enforcing a quota help produce better football players and thus a better national team or would it simply give mediocre players more of an opportunity to play at a higher level?

Bideford

Player quotas will not make English football stronger.

If you are good enough you will make it, like in all walks of life.

We last won a major trophy in 1966, overseas players didn't peak until the mid 90's so that was 30 years without a trophy.

Lets face up to facts we are not good enough, and the FA is still run by old farts with old ideas.

That's why we don't win anything when we do have world class players.

Crests an artificially high price for home grown players which made the foreigners even more attractive

Difficult to get the right balance but something needs to be done.
