I've been. I wouldn't go again unless I had to. The place is a dump!
Honestly, what you see on TV isn't the real Miami, it's mostly Star Island. There's some nice art decontamination buildings actually on south beach but move one block over and it's like a shanty town. You also frequently get hassled by beggars.
If you do decide to go the Cuban quarter is definitely worth exploring. It's very lively, the food is great and the people are amazing. It's the polar opposite of the rest of the city. |

You only have to drive a few miles north for great beaches and good restaurants "
I used a public toilet on South Beach and felt like wiping my feet on the way out!
The place definitely isn't as it's portrayed on the tv and in films. |
