Why does it have to be low?
Generally anaesthetists and surgeons don't like blood pressure being too low for surgery |

i don't know but can tell it's high . Thought they wouldn't op if it's high , I don't know . It's only bladder stones so I'm prob being a stress head !

If it's dangerously high then they won't like it but you will have blood pressure taken as soon as you get to hospital and I expect you had it taken at a pre OP assessment too,try not to be a stress head  |

If it's dangerously high then they won't like it but you will have blood pressure taken as soon as you get to hospital and I expect you had it taken at a pre OP assessment too,try not to be a stress head "
not had proper pre op nurse just took swabs for Mrsa . Only got Diogenes Thursday at 7.30 pm dr wants to get it in before he goes on hols for three weeks |

How do you tell it's high? I suffer with anxiety and assumed mind would be high but it's low. Some automatic blood pressure machines don't work on me. Before my op it had to be done manually. They will only postpone your op if it's dangerously high,my nurse said there's a big range that they will operate within. |

How do you know it's high?
You'll be given a pre op asessment, which will include, a BP reading, it's your systolic they will be more concerned with. Perfect 120 this is when your hearts working hard to push the blood out. Dystolic, is when it's at rest. The bottom number ideally 80. Don't stress they won't perform a procedure unless they are comfortable. Blood pressure varies immensely. Good luck |

Don't have any salt between now and then!
and
Don't drink any alcohol between now and then
those are pretty much the only options you have to help in anyway whatsoever |

Is it normally high or are you just presuming its high as you're feeling anxious? If its normally high then there isn't much you can do about it now, takes a while to get BP down through lifestyle changes and maybe even medication.
If you're just feeling anxious then there isn't much you can do about that either. No amount of folk telling you to keep calm makes a difference until you come out the theatre |

Every op I've had mines been sky high.
Tell them you have "white coat syndrome" (fear of doctors and hospitals).
request a pre med too.

I suffer very high blood pressure , how do you know it's high? Mines 205 over 110 . My last op was 4 weeks Ago ( opened back of my hand up ) it still went ahead |

hospital will have probably contacted your GP to suggest medication to get yours down a bit.
Could be many reasons why it's so high...x
