I'm a scouser, like every the scouser I know that we are not often thought of fondly by the rest of the nation. So I thought I'd just straight up ask. What is the real opinion of scousers from other people's perspectives? |

"Where does a scouser have to come from? Does the Wirral count?
Good lord no lol x"
Oh well,I'm afraid the only scouser I know had a drug problem, lied constantly to his wife, stole money and constantly accused his wife of cheating. He's mellowed a bit and grown up,only took him until his late 40s. I don't know any others but I like some celebrities |

Scousers have moved on from stealing hubcaps and car radios.
Mainly because most stereos are built in and most cars now have alloy wheels
Day do dat don't day |

Is this still even a thing? I only know one scouser and she's lovely, I'm sure plenty of you are arseholes too but that's the same as everywhere else in the country. |

I do have to admit to going to a game as an away fan at anfield dressed up in the best curly wig, moustache and bright red trancksuit once.... (no photo's exist... all were burnt!!! )
watching about 200 arsenal fans hop off that football special at lime street doing their best "scousers" was epic..... blame harry enfield!!! |

Scousers took the Harry Enfield joke in good taste. There is even a picture of the Liverpool team with curly hair, moustaches and doing the famous calm down hand gesture haha |

I don't mind scousers.
The whole scouser thing is just banter.
I met a scouse couple once.
He was a Everton fan and she was a Liverpool fan.
They took the piss out of me being a southerner just as much as I took the piss out of them.
It's just banter. |

Coming from Birkenhead does not make you a scouser though! |

I too am a scouser, albeit living in Manchester these days, To me, if people have a opinion of scouser based on what they have heard r seen, its more an indication of who they are, not who or what we are
I have never had a bad word said about scouser to me though, other than banter with others, in which cases, I give as good as I get. And I do think we have the ability the laugh at ourselves more than some. |

All the Irish are thick, Scots & Jews skinflints, Italians cowards, and Scousers steal hubcaps etc etc........ or so the stereotyping school of philosophy would have it. Though untrue, if you say a thing often and long enough there are dimwits who actually believe it.
The reality is that Liverpool and its people are simply the best.
And to echo a line from the song Ferry Across The Mersey... " We dont care what your name is boy, we'll never turn you away " |

It seemed to change in the 80s, for certain reasons.
Before that, scouters were the pride of England with the Beatles etc.
Then, after a few events- they went to being the favourite group to chastise.
But that Harry Enfield job, when a coach full came down south for a game, was the funniest thing id seen for years.
Dunno if anyone remembers it, was a scream |

Regional identities are great. They allow for immediate banter when meeting new people, foreigners love the different accents and we can all be ourselves.
But with every difference you get people who use it as an excuse to be a bastard. They'd still be bastards without your regional identity, they'd just pick on something else instead. |

They have a general tendency to bang on about the past, probably because living in the shadow of the Mancs (with their much cooler bands and football teams) has left them with an inferiority complex. |

Sometimes banging on about the past reveals something completely different that changes the past - a certain David Duckenfield has proved that over the last week and a half - some things are worth banging on about |

I used to go hitchiking round the country, if anyone ever stopped to give me a lift it was usually a very nice and chatty scouser.
Love the city, only ever visited for the first time a few years ago and surprised how great it is, and not surprised it got that cultural status thing ages ago. Not sure why it has a bad rep, obviously all areas have their shit holes but liverpool seems alright. |

I'd recommend it for a day out, probably take you more than a day to explore everything though.
I've been a fair few times now, shame it takes 4 hours plus to get to from mine by public transport, only takes about 30-40 mins in a car. |

All scousers I've met are really nice. Theres one in particular, woman, late 30s. Wouldnt think shes a scouse as she doesn't have the accent anymore, however when shes angry or pissed off, the true scouse comes back. Shes still lovely though..
I shouldnt really be saying this though, coming from a mancunian, but I dont mind scousers..

A few years ago before meeting my lovely partner I (the bloke) briefly dated a gorgeous lady from Bootle. I'd recently split from a long term relationship and had lost my way, lost my appetite for adventure. This girl changed all that, made me find my mojo, gave me back my confidence. I'll always have a soft spot for scouse ladies, besides the sexy accent they are amongst the nicest people I have ever encountered. |

I'm a scouser born and bred and proud.
Scouse ladies know how to make the best of their assets and strut them with pride. We invented the scouse brows and our need to look our best for our big night out, means we will go shopping in our rollers. We totter to the school run in our designer heels (and rollers) or if you are a 'special' kind of scouser will pitch up in your jim jams and ugg boots.
We are amongst the nicest, friendliest people you will ever meet, because with a scouse lady, there are no angles. What you see is what you get and we don't care much for the opinion of others about what we look like or where we come from...we are what we are. Loud, proud, gorgeous and filthy!
Liverpool is also VERY lucky...it has an amazing swingers club on it's doorstep hehe |

To be fair, I wouldn't care what people think, as shown many times before people are still saying 1980's style "jokes" when talking about scousers and most of those "jokes" could have applied to any major city.
For me ( but then I am biased ) the ones I have met are the most friendly and helpful people I have come across and I have lived in many places.
Yes, you will get some bad eggs, but that's the same wherever you live. |

"The one thing I have noticed with every scoucer I've ever met is they seem to try too hard to be liked, to be the funny one, the centre of attention and really really loud
*Scouser.
Each to their own. I wouldn't generalise about a whole city, possibly because I love the sense of humour. Same with Glaswegians."
As you will see with my post I didn't say every *scouser is the same, what I said was everyone I'd met, |

Scouser seem lovely in the most part, from when I've been and who I've met. But compared to any other city they can be the most concerned about what the rest of the country thinks of them. I can't imagine this thread having been 'national opinion of people from Leeds' or 'what does the rest of the UK think of Geordies'. |

Away with the fairies (Liverpool to you) |
"So Liverpool is worth a visit then? I've yet to go further "oop North" than Birmingham, and that was mildly unsettling
Do you really live in a forest? That would be lovely
Yes we do, and yes it is! And only a hazel-twig's throw from where the White witch Sybil Leek lived.
I am imagining a big fairy tale forest with a tiny little cottage hidden in the middle.....a little stream meandering it's way through we actually live 20 minutes away from Formby point which is kind a of forest and walk the dogs daily in a woods but yours sounds so mysterious
Ohhhhh it would be like scooby doo in the winter all dark and spooky!!!!!!!
Ooooooooo. I'm twenty minutes from there too. Wave from your window and I'll wave from mine. "

I miss Liverpool for so many reasons, like they are a friendly bunch of people, the night life is so varied heavy metal clubs to dance clubs, my personal favourite is the crazy house.
As for living in the past, Liverpool is full of history, from football, to the docks and even the buildings around tell a story.
As you can tell very pro Liverpool, even though I can't stand football. |

I think it was a good thread and it's nice to receive positive comments from around the country. I think most Geordies I've met were decent fun people. |

so near and yet so far.... |
I was born in Liverpool, just around the corner from where the Beatles sang about Penny Lane, can't remember what it his area is called now. I've moved south when i was 5.
Always attributed my sense of humour and quick wittedness to being Scouse! |

A lit of the plastic scousers I used to work with, assumed that they were funny, just by virtue of having a scouse accent. One was. The other two were cunts. |
