Nope. My next of kin is my daughter so everything I own will go to her when she is of age, which is as it should be. I have a slightly different financial situation, whereby my "income" would automatically pass to her, without the need for me to say.  |

But without a will it might not pass to her, the state would get involved through a probate process. When I looked into it, it made me realise I really needed to write one. |

The cut off points for private are valid with or without a Will. A Will just sets out what you would like to happen.
If you have historic Wills, which pass on wealth, then their rules apply before yours.. |

I'll be redoing mine this year.
I don't have a pot to piss in cash wise, no property or assets - and already have designated beneficiaries for my life insurance and work death in service benefits.
But knowing my luck I'll get hit by a bus after walking in front of one staring at my multiple rollover winning lottery ticket! So better safe than sorry.
Besides - there's a few requests re sentimental possessions I want to make note of for certain people as well as specific funeral requests - so it needs doing.

They should be done as a matter of urgency...if you die without one you will be Intestate....not worth the administrative grief for your family after death.. |

You can never be sure it would be that simple and it is just common sense to have a will made and name an executor to handle the financial side of handling your estate. A solicitor would only charge about £50 or so to do a simple will. |

A will just makes sure your wishes are followed,
so your goods etc pass to your kids more quickly and smoothly, and your wishes for a funeral etc can be followed, how many of us have discussed funeral burial v cremation. At a sad and emotional time takes the pressure off loved ones. Organ donation etc |

It can all start to get very complex if you let it. I just wanted to have it sorted so I don't leave too much of a mess when I'm gone. |

Have just managed to get my Mother to do one aged 70, she thinks it is about money, but as I said, leave it to the cats home if you want, but just get it done so we know what you want! |

no but i should do - i only really have the house which is paid for - and it will go to my 2 kids - but i know its not that straight fwd so its on the to do list |

I haven't done one but after having several people close to me pass away over the last couple of years it did make me realise how expensive it was for the people left behind to pay funeral costs if there was no savings ect so have made sure I have put enough away to at least pay for that myself. |

I wrote one when I was fairly young and keep it updated.
My reason being - my father died aged 34 without one. He was stubborn and although terminally ill would not write one, as he didn't want to believe he was going to die. I understand that must have been hard to accept.
If you die without a will, everything is frozen whilst you do Letters of Administration. Their joint bank account was frozen - my grandparents had to bail us out (my sis and I were 13 and 11, mum was 32) and Mum said it was really difficult to sort everything out. It too far longer than if there had been a will and in the meantime we lived on a widows pension of £52 quid and mums low wages.
Having since been an executor of my Mum's will - she always made sure I knew where it was kept. It's easier with a will in place and you feel you are carrying out that persons final wishes - even insofar as do they want to be buried or cremated.
So whether you have much to leave or not, I personally think it's a task worth doing. |

As long as you state you are mentally capable, make it clear it is your last will and testament, sign it and get someone to witness the signature then it should suffice! Will you leave me something for the advice?? |

Your income perhaps but other property would have to go through probate so best to have a will. |
