It’s on the site of what used to be a pub called The Swinger. It marked the end of a tram line where the arm would be swung around for the tram to travel back in the opposite direction so locals gave it the nickname of The Swinger (I believe it’s real name was The Forest Hotel). Eventually the name was changed to The Swinger. The pub closed and was left derelict for many years before it was eventually knocked down |
