There is no evidence of any God. As for Hebrews 12:11, it's predicated on there being one, so it means little to me except, perhaps, as a way to control people.

Discipline of many types can be a great thing. Self-discipline perhaps being the greatest of them all.

Discipline within a sexual context also has a definite time and place.

Atm, the tea mug's empty, so can be filled up. With a local butler, there's probably limited need for a vacuum flask, as the teapot may be enough to keep it hot. As piping hot as possible though, please.

You don't have to believe in God, or gods, to appreciate some of the wise words that are in various religious books.

I just wish some people would treat those that do have a faith with the same respect, acceptance and tolerance they would like others to have for those that practice various activities on this site, instead of taking any opportunity to denigrate.

For the record, I'm agnostic leaning towards atheism but also tolerant and respectful of others beliefs as long as they're not being forced upon me.

"There is no evidence of any God.

"

THIS!

What would it take for me to believe in God?...

PROOF.

I'm Atheist.

This is what Atheist means from the Dictionary:

"A person who denies or disbelieves the existence of a supreme being or beings."

That's it.

That's all it actually means.

It just means I don't believe in a supreme being or any kind of god.

And I don't. I don't believe in a supreme being or any kind of god.

So it doesn't mean much at all then.

You deny. You disbelieve.

Sounds like you have a lot of faith in your unbelief.

So you're a believer. There's a believer in you. Your believer must believe something.

Yet you choose to believe in nothing.

For those, like me, that don't know their scripture by numbers:-

Hebrews 12:11

No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained.

I'm a believer but not religious as in following a religious creed.

Besides that your argument makes no sense as my statements are not dependent on my being 'religious'.

You make your beloved atheism sound like some kind of cursed condition.

"

"

Ah!

"you're not an ATHEIST . . . you're an AGNOSTIC."

Yeah I got that all the fucking time at School too when I had a staunchly Catholic Teacher and I'd always say "Huh?"..

No see...

"Atheist" means from Dictionary.com

"A person who denies or disbelieves the existence of a supreme being or beings."

That's it.

That's all it means. It just means I don't believe in a supreme being or any kind of god.

(As I said above)

I mean, nowhere in that definition does it mean that I couldn't be convinced otherwise if I was presented with overwhelming AND undeniable PROOF.

Seriously, Once upon a time, years ago, everyone had the belief that the sun revolved around the earth.

Then Galileo like totally proved it WASN'T the case and the fucking church put him on trial and locked him

in prison because it didn't fit the churches views.

Now guess what?...

Well see, NOW the frigging pope believes that the earth rotates AROUND the sun. What's changed?..

This is my problem with it.

And btw...Agnostic means:

"A person who holds that the existence of the ultimate cause, as God, and the essential nature of things are unknown and unknowable, or that human knowledge is limited to experience."

And you know what, that's a really weird label.
