sounds as if post 2013 there were a few problems with the place being under administration, but things may have improved now. That by and by the place has some fascinating history and some impressive architecture, and stunning gardens. The famous hill climb is due to run again in 2015 on a longer course as well, could indeed be a worthwhile venue for something |

yes, lovely place, although our sleep in was awoke by a bloody helicopter landing lol
Also try Coombe Abbey, have lovely themed rooms
