With the rise of Netflix, nowTV and the other IPTV providers, do you think that the age of the set top box has passed?

Personally, I think freeview, Virgin and Sky should now offer their live TV as a streaming service.

Brighton - even Hove!

It's only outdated if you watch a repeat.

I have the TV on in the background late at night when I'm usually doing some work.

Usually Football matches on Sky/replays.

It is outdated , With hd cinema , iplayer etc there's no real need for it . Pretty much all we watch is from the smart function and our phone now .

"It's only outdated if you watch a repeat."

Every Top Gear programme is a repeat, isn't it? I get a strong sense of deja vous at least!!

I think that network television as we traditionally know it will fade out, yes.

Live events, especially sport will always exist but as for everything else - it will probably become entirely on demand eventually.

Far from outdated tbh, streaming is all very good if you have the connection for it but a huge amount of people are still using slower ADSL and would spend more tame with it buffering than watching what they want

Yes.

That is why they are thinking of another way to force use to pay tax, because less people are using tv and they're not paying the license fee.

Not really, I think there's just a lot of crap on it which is making people go elsewhere.

We are watching as much TV as ever, but we are consuming lots of other media at the same time. As an example I am currently watching the football while contributing to the Forum. I suspect a lot of others are doing the same. TVs demise is much overstated.

It's more that scheduling needs doing away with. You should be able to watch what you want, when you want. Except live stuff obviously.
