Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

They do 'profiles' of the party leaders every time elections come round, and none of the party leaders are above their families being used for publicity. I'm sure Sam Cam will be on soon.

Lol, but don't you just wish politicians could stand or fall by their policies, not by PR men's latest idea for a populist soundbite or photo-op?

They probably would if people didn't mock the way they eat bacon sarnies.

But if there was more substance, (to any of them) surely how they look, or what they eat, wouldn't matter?

Does that particular segment show him in a good light? Personally I just think it makes him look weak, desperate and totally out of his depth!

Lol find me one that isn't.

The days of the words that come out of someone's mouth being more important than how white their teeth are went with Dylan.

As the good man said.... You don't need a weatherman to know which way the winds blowing!

Having the support of his wife and children doesn't make him weak in mine eyes,

Never, in any of my toughest negotiations in work, did I ever think to wheel my kids in, to 'show their support'.

Still, at least Clare Short is talking sense on Newsnight!

Unless your work means your kids are automatically thrown into the full glare of the media/public then we are comparing apples and oranges.

Privacy laws mean their kids are only in the public eye when they choose them to be.

His policies are more important to me, sorry if that makes me odd.

No one would/should deny that policies are key. You didn't mention his policies in your op. You talked about him being a wuss because his wife and kids are publicly supporting him and his notorious bacon sarnie eating style. Anyway, ignore me, I am just sexually frustrated

Strength in numbers. I'm a big believer in that.

No idea what this topic is actually about though, just answering the title of it.

Your absolutely right...

I would love to hear CamMoron sell himself to the country on his record of:

Cuts to police numbers

Cuts to military numbers

Cuts to local government workforces

Cuts to local government support for pensioners and vulnerable

Cuts to road maintenance

Cuts to benefits for the poorest

And increases to VAT

All to to pay for cuts to income-tax for the super rich...

Not going to happen is it? Roll out the spin, families and smarmy faced lies...

Sorry, Irenic, it was a bit obscure. I was just frustrated that the BBC had chosen to give Ed Milliband such a prime-time slot on the News at Ten, and he'd chosen, rather than discuss policies, to have his wife n kids show 'how human he is'!

Worryingly, under 'balance' we'll now have interviews with all the spouses.

Still, I suppose it'll be interesting hearing what Mrs Farage thinks about all these Europeans coming over here! (She's German)

.

And Willwill, he must have done that, because even I know the answers to all of those!!

Wish they'd do that with immigrants and benefit claimants. Make them human.

Yeah they know that politicians have nothing to talk about, nothing to offer us- the people. They're happy to keep things the way they are now so don't need to inform us about anything.

Plus a lot of hate for politicians and the system on social media i've noticed (when i used to use it, wasn't too long ago either). They probably are worried what people think of politicians, or trying to be original, or maybe pandering to reality tv?

I dunno, nothing in politics makes sense to me. Might as well show their families and talk about themselves, that's all they care about anyway, their own little clique of elites.

I am tired and ranty now i'm thinking about politicians, maybe i should watch it and humanise him?

i think that they are affording the leaders of the 'main' parties the same opportunity so we can all be taken in err shown that they are just like us..

think the policies will come out from most of them in the televised debates apart from our Dave who is running the risk of looking like he is running scared..

Mrs Millibland is just trying to emulate Mrs Bliar! We have no need of this blatant advertising of how "human" he is, we need real policies that will get the deficit under control and not soundbites, picking up little things that he thinks may get hi a vote here and there.

I have no problem with politicians having wives and families in pictures where appropriate, but to actually interview a politicians wife of prime time TV to give him credence (if that is even possible!) is wrong! I now want to see all the other party leaders wives giving their views for balance...

If you think Claire Short is right you might have forgotten how she forgot her own principles when accepting a Cabinet position rather than resigning over the Iraq war. Useless as a politician with a frightening naive view of how to defend UK now.

One would assume, but as she is the political leader, will they wheel her partner out? Watch this space..
