I commented I didn't have a t.v on a thread the other day and I didn't know who jihadi john was and someone commented 'what rock are you under? No t.v, radio or facebook!!?' Or something similar....
I have facebook, i log on these days for about a min a day, get bored and log out, it's that pointless I may delete my facebook actually......I don't watch television or listen to the radio.......
The question is, am I alone on this? I can't be the only one......
The question was asked as if I was some freakish anomaly....am I? Surely not?  |

Quite a few people don't have televisions these days.
I don't watch much at all, don't read newspapers or buy celebrity magazines, practically got called a lier for not knowing who some of these c list celebrities are

nope, I do use facebook regularly, use it to keep up with friends and family who don't live close, but no tv, dnt read papers or magazines, will put the radio on for background noise, but prefer to listen to the types of music I like, which isn't pop! |

I don't even log onto facebook every day, i only bother if one of my family contacts me on there to ask for my phone number. Last time i went on some random musician was asking me how i was, probably so i'd buy his shit.
Not got tv here either, music all day long instead and love it. Never have tv in my home when i'm single either.
No idea who half the celebrities are or what tedious stuff they're up to and not bothered.

I listen to a DAB rock radio station and try to keep abreast of current affairs, but if i lost my lovely shiny 48" smart tv, with 3d, sky tv and all the mod cons, would I be gutted?
Only if I didn't get the retail value of it back...

I dont have a TV either - I like to watch films and box sets but I don't do the news or big brother type drivel - everyone to their own but I don't think we're missing much!

There's a tv in the house, but I never watch it. I have Facebook, but I never use it. I get most of my news from here.. And when I don't know who somebody is I just move on because they can't be that interesting if I've not heard of them... |

Yeah, I didn't think I was alone in that....if I watch telly I just get annoyed with the vast amounts of cack on there so if I know there's something I like I just get it on the lappy at some later date...
Radio is naff....all generic pop I can't stand, one decent tune in a hundred maybe so again, laptop for music....
And facebook.....meh....I talk to folk when I see them...it's all endless drivell normaly and photo's of people's dinner so I've gone totally off it lately....

True. I wouldn't manage without these, even though previously i have managed without and not had tv.
Can't even watch tv at peoples houses, i just tune it out and no idea what is on. |

I know it's ridiculous if I leave the house without my phone I have to come back and get it!
If my internet connection is down I'm not happy at all 
I remember when we used to go and knock on each others doors to speak to each other - no such thing as the internet or mobile phones and we coped just fine |

We do it all the time. Holidays are spent enjoying ourselves instead of being on our phones ( making calls as I don't normally use my phone for the net )or the net all the time. I don't look down on people who like to sit on their phones all day though, I just don't see the attraction when out |

Yeah, I don't really use it for arranging anything personally.
I used to use it more than now but just got disheartened at the constant rubbish put on there, and game invites etc......I think I've phased it out slowly and replaced it with fab and the forums..not conciously but I think that's what's happened....hmm... |

I am living with my daughter who only uses her tv for Netflix Amazon PS4 and catch up tv. I know everything about the world either from here or from a friend who works at the bbc news. |

I can't open the pages and take a big smell of book....I can't look which one is more dog eared and smile because I've had it so long, I can't run my fingers over the spines of the books all in a row, I can't spend hours browsing in the book shop oening them and reading random paragraphs to see if they sound good....

I have thousands of books literally (see what I did there ) and a kindle allows me the luxury of keeping them and experiencing the sensations you describe while reading books that are new to me and deciding to buy them if I really love them. I also find it useful when I go away. Horses for courses though and owning a kindle isn't obligatory |

I have thousands of books literally (see what I did there ) and a kindle allows me the luxury of keeping them and experiencing the sensations you describe while reading books that are new to me and deciding to buy them if I really love them. I also find it useful when I go away. Horses for courses though and owning a kindle isn't obligatory "

Been semi toying with a kindle...but I love my books too much, can't stand to get one from the library as I know I have to give it back...it stings handing it back in....
Get one! I have the kindle fire hd and I love it.
But what do I put on my shelf and look at lovingly when I've finished the book? I can't open the pages and take a big smell of book....I can't look which one is more dog eared and smile because I've had it so long, I can't run my fingers over the spines of the books all in a row, I can't spend hours browsing in the book shop oening them and reading random paragraphs to see if they sound good....
You can't get any of that from a kindle.
The actual stories are just part of the joy of owning books for me....

I'll catch up one day!
I've got as far as connecting my laptop to my girlfriends t.v to play music...that's my crowning technological achievement so far....I was very proud of myself for doing that |
