It's all subjective.. your idea of athletic might not be mine
As you have stated they have pictures, you made an informed decision based on that. So where is the issue? |

Some mistake doing sport and being physically fit with having an athletic body type. There's a difference between being athletic and looking athletic.
Some think they are better than average but not slim, which doesn't leave many options.
Some were very sporty and active 20 years ago and haven't moved past that, (I still feel 18 in my head but I sure as hell don't look it!)
Body shape and size is a subjective thing a lot of the time which is why it's better to use pictures to determine whether there's interest.
Since it's not possible to search on body shape/size, and most people want to see photos before arranging a meet, it doesn't matter much what anyone puts. |

If you look at the sport of athletics you get a wide variety of body shape and size, compare a long distance runner like Mo Farrah to a big bulky Shot Putter for example, but they are both athletes/athletic. |

Why is it silly for people to be confident in their own skin? Should everyone walk round with low self esteem because you might not agree with their evaluation of themselves? |

I don't know what the heck I'd put if we had to write our own descriptions.
Large seems to cover it, although what I consider large and what other people consider large are not always the same.
That means when I say "large", they aren't always expecting what they get. Even with photos people are sometimes surprised and I think my photos (when not hidden) are fairly representative of me. |

To be honest a lot of the size descriptions are ambiguous anyway. Curvy doesn't really describe a man and the idea you go from average to large is a bit of a joke in itself. But as people have pointed out photos are a much better indicator so it doesn't really matter as long as you've seen what they look like |

Curvy isn't a size at all. The body size/shape options list is a bit of a mish-mash of sizes and shapes, all of which are pretty vague.
That said, coming up with a better list that we all, (or even a majority), agree on is unlikely!
Photos, cams and socials are the way to go, imo. |

I chose fabulous because when we set up the account description it started with slim and went all the way through to fabulous (seemingly larger with each choice) and I thought that meant the bigger size available so I chose that - we have plenty of pics on our profile and quite a few are full length naked so people see me in all my glory before we meet |

I find it really petty when people get hung up on what others describe themselves as. Many of us will describe ourselves as attractive, there are some I personally don't find attractive but I wouldn't comment or challenge it, it is how individuals see themselves.
I don't buy into the advertising yourself mindset. My profile is written how I want it and my photos are what I want to show the fab community. I don't reply to requests for full length body pics or questions about my size etc. I am not a commodity.
I rely on the messaging and chatting and getting to know each other a little approach
We form enough of an insight into each other to be able to ascertain whether we are compatible.
Of course face pics of each other are important and from the pictures displayed you can tell the overall shape of them. But to quibble and place such importance on what people choose from a drop down menu seems silly to me.
The profile can be as detailed or vague as you want it to be. So what if the person describes themselves as attractive, handsome, beautiful, sexy, fit, athletic, hot etc. A positive approach is a good thing |

Im not sure what age has to do with it?
Being young doesn't mean you automatically have the ability to be blessed with a good body. Nor does being older mean you're cursed to not have one.
Discipline and conditioning make a good body. Not age |

Sorry but there does come a point in our life's where our body does start to age and not look as good as it once did
Take my tits for instance, they will never look like they did when I was 18 no matter what I do, they're fucked and that's come with breast feeding and age |

I was slim, no skinny in fact. However following about 2 years of persistent injury I have put on a bit of weight. I used to run regularly, so I could have been described as athletic (like Mo Farah). But I was just skinny.
I now have a bit of a belly. I'm still a 30" waist, so I have changed my profile to say average. I use my wit, charm and rohypnol to get meets because there is no way I can find time to bulk up in the gym, and it wouldn't have helped with my running.
Now I am stuck in a cycle of recovery, physio, injury.
Long and short of it is, people will either describe themselves as how they see themselves, or describe themselves with whatever will improve their chances of getting that first meet.
p.s. any lady sports massage therapists fancy helping me out, it would be appreciated! |

"Im not sure what age has to do with it?
Being young doesn't mean you automatically have the ability to be blessed with a good body. Nor does being older mean you're cursed to not have one.
Discipline and conditioning make a good body. Not age
Sorry but there does come a point in our life's where our body does start to age and not look as good as it once did
Take my tits for instance, they will never look like they did when I was 18 no matter what I do, they're fucked and that's come with breast feeding and age "
I have to say, I'm not sure on the aging debate...
My tits look way better now than they did 10 years ago, post child, breast fed for nearly 2 years, and now lost 18 stone... much better boobs now, so a lot has to do with health and training - not just as simple as age and they head south |

I agree with this, however you do have to work at it a lot bloody harder when you're in your 40's!
Genetics plays a big part too. |

Takes a lot longer to recover and recharge as you get older too. I've got far less time to train now than I did 15 years ago, but I've got a better body now than I did simply because I've switched sports. |

The choices you get dont always match up to your body type, Athletic could mean only 9-10 stone slim up to 20 stone with heavy muscle.
I put large or ample as i'm solid with a 50" chest but people who meet me say i'm muscular and in good shape so why don't i put athletic, looking more like a bouncer than athletic i dont fit the stereo type on here lol.
People on here can see what i look like if they wish to meet so whatever i put does it really matter as everybodies views differ. |

"why do people describe there body type as 'athletic' and there quite clearly not when you see them slight false advertising "
The options given for body type are often open to interpretation. What I deem to be athletic/curvy/avarage will differ to someone else.
Maybe they really believe they are, maybe it's wishful thinking, maybe they ticked the wrong box.
As long as they have clear photos so you can see for yourself. Does it really matter |

"Some mistake doing sport and being physically fit with having an athletic body type.
I could put down athletic i guess as i'm cardio fitter than a lot of guys half my age( i run 40+ miles a week), but i put down slim because some people think it should mean you have lots of muscles.
But but see that's the problem the description isn't there to tell people how many mins on the treadmill you do it's what your body type is and your right to put average surely athletic to most people is slim with muscle tone or muscly and toned
I didn't put average, i put slim. It's not really important what you or I think is athletic, it's what the majority of members on here would class as athletic. "
Ok but whether you put slim or average that could be a matter of opinion im talking about an out of shape beer bellied man calling him self athletic there is no room for opinion |

I put average when I signed up. Thinking yea... I'm not special or anything.
Until I saw guys with beer bellies describe themselves as athletic. I changed pretty quickly!! |

"I do my best to keep in shape, and I am quite fit, but I'm no athlete. However, there isn't a 'not bad for his age' category so I plumped for athletic
how about a looks better than a lot of blokes 20 yrs younger catagory?
In have to agree, though there are a few athletic guys on here with good body's I've seen a lot of guys much younger than you who's not in as good shape
And that's genuine I'm not after anything "
Thank you, it does get harder as you get older and I'm not genetically gifted so I have to control my diet, (I love food and wine lol) and exercise a lot, fortunately, I do love it though, it de-stresses me and the fact that you ladies appreciate the effort just makes it all worth while. |

I meant to say, I don't think we should all get hung up about it, the site cant cater for every eventuality. I've been declined a few times because the ladies in question don't like fit blokes, That's fine by me, I don't expect to be everyone's cup of tea. I personally don't have a preference, I've had large friends and skinny friends, all of whom I think are gorgeous, its just a case of finding whats right for the both of you, with regards to the body type, is it really that important and those that have said look at the pics have hit the nail on the head. Make up your own minds |
