"ahhh how much restoration do you need to do to it ?"
A fair bit, the chassis needs straightening, and a general overhaul, it's sat for 30 years, but we have most of the parts. And did get around to having the headlights re-chromed lol

K series is the type of engine fitted to a lot of models. You get better gaskets for them now though so don't need to worry about it really if it's been done. I've had a lot of rovers and only had one with hg failure. I've had more Vauxhalls with hgf than rovers |

"no K-series is the designation for the engine type,
Oh ok, what reg got that engines? " They are fitted to most models and reg. 2 cars the same model from same year could have a k1.6 (rover engine) or a d1.6 (Honda engine) so not as simple as avoiding a specific year. |

Well they seem to go for ever in a bmw so be the same in a rover I would of thought.
Problem with rovers and mg is soon as something goes wrong people say cos it's a rover when most of the time it's cos they haven't been cared for properly. |

If you go on rover couple dot net they used to have a big write up about doing it. Sure it's along the lines of what's chopped off bottom of gear stick below the pivot is welded to the top half. Could be the other way round, can't think properly.
On a few coupes and 25's I seen that had it done to it can end up fouling on the exhaust. |

Was near Downend & noticed maybe 6 Mg's sat idle near some shops. I don't own one but seemed sad sitting there obviously in various states of repair, a money making project for an enthusiast me thinks. |

I changed the position of the fulcrum bolt, and shortened the lever that sticks out the tunnel and lengthened the bit in the tunnel.
I cut of the counter weight, replaced all the bushes , bashed the casing a bit so it was all nice and tight .
I am looking at making a H guide for it , and then putting gates in it so you just pushed lever back and forwards to change gear instead of moving to the left and right, |

75 diesels are the devils car. Evil sons of bitches. Alternator, whole front of car off, power steering pump, Jack half the engine out, fuel pumps - christ don't get me started on those f*****g fuel pumps....
Even changing a headlight is a pain in the arse.
That said, great looking car for the money won't have another though.
