The second one,the third really should never have been made.

It's been a while since I've watched III, and have to disagree, I think it on a par with the other two, a really brilliant movie.

My favourite by far is number 1!

You can't beat the brilliance of Marlon Brando and I loved James Caan as Sonny!

Number 2 is excellent though, and I liked the whole Vito Corleone backstory.

I enjoyed number three, but felt it was below par for the series.

A very good critique. Brando and Caan were brilliant in I. But I also love the chemistry between Pacino and Garcia in III.

Good question. 3 is defiantly out of the equation.

Godfather One. Groundbreaking. Amazing film.

Godfather Two. Probably the best sequel ever made.

There is little to pick between One an Two.

Today I prefer Two because of Robert DeNiros input but ask me tomorrow and I would say One because of James Caan.

Sorry, no definitive answer from me

It's probably because I'm watching it, but the scene on the steps of the opera at the end of III and the flashbacks are brilliant.

Can watch 1 and 2 again and again

We only tend to watch 3 because it has Andy Garcia in it and Scarlett likes the scene when he and Sophia Coppola make pasta.

No1 is still my Favourite though

Part one the best film ever made. Part two an excellent film. Part three nowhere near as good but interesting in the parallels with what was supposed to be going on with the church at the time of the death of John Paul I

All 3 films are brilliant although no3 is probably for the die hard fans.

No1 just edges it for me over no2.

Apart from the indulgent casting of Ford Coppola's daughter as Mary, I think III is a really good movie.

Did you know she had a cameo in the first one? She was the little girl dancing with Tessio, while stood on his feet during the wedding, near the beginning of the film. Yes, agree Part Three is a very good film - just nowhere near as good as Parts One and Two, both of which are amazing

Part 1, it is a cinematic masterpiece. Part 2 is a great sequel, but part 3 I didn't rate.

I do prefer the book, though.

Apologies. Was just going from memory from what I saw from the DVD. Googled it and, according to Wiki, she was in the baptism scene - presumably the baby in it. Apparently she was in Part Two as well

Only ever seen III once when it first came out and can't remember what happens in it. Maybe because it not as good as the others...

Difficult to decide which I or II is better, but have seen them both many times.

I don't think you can get a better ending to a film than you do with the 1st film where he takes out the head of all the families.

III is a good movie by most standards but unfortunately (inevitably?) it can't quite stand up to the glorious heights of I and II - and as others have said it's near impossible, and probably quite futile, to slide a fag paper between them. Obviously Brando, Pacine, Caan and De Niro are great but John Cazale as Fredo is also superb throughout, and the cinematography in I and II is brilliant too.

Don't forget the performances of Talia Shire and Diane Keaton, both of whom really come to the fore in III, but were equally brilliant in I and II.

Robert Duvall, who played Tom Hagan, was also brilliant in 1 and 2.

He was sadly missing in III, loved his character in I an II, brilliant performance.

Nothing comes close to that level of rubbish! Rocky Balboa was a good comeback though, will be interesting to see what the new one is like.

It was maybe a tad too long, but I enjoyed the going legitimate storyline, the Vatican being involved and the failure to break away from the violence. Maybe expectations of it were too high given just how good I and II were.

As others have said, I believe GF3 was a victim of the brilliance of the first two. It was still a brilliant film but very few films attain the heights of the first two.

Don't know if you have heard the rumours of how and why Jane Paul I died and how God's banker was found hanging in London off (I believe) Westminster Bridge. The stories surrounding that part of history dovetail with Part III so well. It would be interesting to know how close to a non fiction story it really is

Rocky 3 certainly didn't.I'm sure that's why they made Rocky 5,so the third wouldn't look so bad

Clubber Laing has some great lines in 3 though! 4 was borderline ridiculous but fantastic for it, 5 was a disgrace, 6 was actually pretty good.
