"7 people in total arrested, 2 charged with kidnap and murder
I'd volunteer to chop their bollocks off in the town high street
I really think I would the bastards
"
I have to admit i feel similar but would want them to suffer more first, im disgusted at this, that area of Bristol is a close community and this will spark retribution if its not handled well |

I noticed there are women involved in this case, I remember when I was a kid we were always warned to stay away from strange men, noone ever told us women could hurt you too, but over the years I have noticed more and more cases of missing kids etc that have involved women, seems like it time to change who we are warning our kids to stay away from and trust
You can't even begine to imagine what her parents are going through right now |

It really is awful, my fear is the backlash once the suspects are named particularly if they are foreign, not that it makes it any worse but i know how close that community is and it could spark serious outrage |

7 people arrested makes me think that there is much more to this than meets the eye. Normally one sick and twisted pervert, occasionally aided and abetted by an equally sick woman. ... But 7 people now arrested??? Odd, very odd. |

Only 2 of those arrested have been arrested for murder, the others are for assisting an offender, that can range from allowing the offenders into their homes to helping to dispose of the body, it's possible that they unwittingly assisted them, I'm not defending anyone here but without knowing the facts we shouldn't jump to conclusions. The facts will emerge soon enough |

Sickening. What pisses me off about these child killer cases are the costs involved for the offenders upkeep. Every inmate now will want to be the one that hurts/kills or maimes these monsters and just ends up putting more strain on staff and resources. Much easier/cheaper to just remove them from society with lethal injection. |

That I agree as we should bring back the death penalty and use lethal injection rather than life imprisonment |

The cost of the appeals process which can go on for years, and the execution itself would far outweigh the cost of keeping them in prison. And you would have to have a thorough appeals process, because the risk of miscarriage of justice is so huge when you're talking about the death penalty. |

Humm capital punishment just does not sit well with me there has been to many miscarriages of justice for me to agree with this, if you realise you have made a fuck up after you have killed someone you can't give them their life back
I do understand that is someone is guilty then death is a cheaper option than prison but at the end of the day someone's fait is in the hands of 12 people who decide if they are guilty or innocent and I wouldn't be one of those 12 if the outcome was death based on my decision, human can be wrong |

It is in fact cheaper to send someone to prison for life than to enforce the death penalty. Well it is in America where the information is easily accessed. |

In cases where it's clear cut 1st degree murder not talking about when the charge is reduced to manslaughter or diminished responsibility. When all the evidence, DNA or even an admission means that it is certain the person is guilty, I do believe they should be permanently removed from our society. It's the only real justice you can give to the victims family. Fuck the appeals process, I'm sure the murdered victim would love to have had a say in whether they would be murdered or not.
Just think the prison custody officers jobs would be a whole lot easier if they didn't have high risk inmates. |

There have been so, so many cases where the evidence has been wrong, or where confessions have been forced. Complete certainty of guilt is pretty rare. Personally I believe the chance of one innocent person being wrongly executed is too much of a risk. Fading away into obscurity through life in prison is a better alternative in my _iew.
And if there were no child killers in prison, wouldn't the prison population just focus their attention on the paedophiles? The granny muggers? Or do they all have to be executed as well, where do you draw the line and who decides where that is? |

An admission - or confession - is a dangerous thing to pin guilt on to someone. The Timothy Evans case involved a confession which led to his execution (involving the murder of his wife and child). A brilliant book by Ludovic Kennedy, some thirteen years after Evans' execution showed how Evans' confession was very likely to have been manufactured by the police. Indeed, his neighbour John Christie was executed a few years after Evans after it was found Christie was a serial killer. Most commentators accept that Evans was innocent though he has never been given a full pardon. So notorious was the case that it was central to the abolition of the death penalty.
A similar, notorious case was the Guildford Four where a confession was extorted after police allegedly put guns in the accused's mouths. The sentencing judge said, when giving life sentences, that he would have given the death penalty if he could. Of course, all four were cleared later.
While I accept that there is no good reason to keep someone alive who could kill and dismember a young girl, the justice system is so flawed that the death penalty being reinstated would certainly see innocent people put to death. The introduction of DNA has seen many people released from death row in America in recent years |

"Does anyone know how she died ? "
No.
No one knows yet. Not even the police.
We know she's dead but we don't know if she was murdered or died some other way.
We know the body is in parts.
We know two people have been arrested on suspicion of murder.
No murder is proven and nor is any sexual assault.
It's sad but these threads get out of hand with all the 'outrage' about things we know nothing about.
It's all very sad but we know nothing. |

Yeah it's staff wages mainly. Category d open prison it's about 27k cat c is around 31k. Category B male adult prison like where I work costs around 36k a year to keep one inmate. It's more to keep female prisoners. A category A prison is around 47k a year per inmate, again it's more for women. Women are harder work than men, with men you can sense when shits gonna kick off but with women they can look cool and calm as anything but then next thing you know someone's been stabbed in the neck with a spork! |

So based on that if the 28 yr old is convicted and given life ( lets say he lives another 60 yrs ) that would work out to nearly 3 million quid in tax payers money !! |

He wouldn't get 60 years though life in the uk is usually between 17-25 years ranging to 30 for the worst cases. (All cases of murder should be worst cases!)
If he's found to have killed and dismembered her body and providing he's of clear mind when he's convicted he'll probably go to a dispersal prison which is a category A prison which is about 47k a year, after he's done so many years he could be allowed in a category C prison, all depends on his behaviour and response. Because of the dismembering of her body he'll probably have between 19 and 22 years life sentence due to the age of his victim. |

Pretty sure the law changed recently ( the Lee Rigby murder ) that a sentence of life can now mean life and never to be released ? |
