I buy Starbucks beans and grind them each day, delicious! My absolute favourite is Yirgacheffe coffee which I've only ever seen available on line.

It depends on the blend and your taste. I like coffee that has a deep, cigarette ash type flavour that leaves your mouth with a tingling sensation (I can't describe it any other way lol) and at the moment I'm drinking their Christmas blend, espresso roast. I would say that it has more flavour because I can make exactly how I want it and can drink it red hot from bone china. I don't drink coffee in Starbucks anymore I have chai tea latte

I personally think it takes skill to make a half decent cup of coffee regardless if it's not a "professional" job it's still a job so I agree with you totally

Filtered of course through the machine. I hate instant coffee. Have tried many the best I have come across so far is Chock Full O' Nuts. I get it from NY.

Gaggia is never switched off here

The odd time its instant then it has to be Carte Noire Espresso - the closest thing to fresh I've found

Stove-top espresso pot is my weapon of choice, ideally loaded with something bearing a Fairtrade symbol to keep my halo intact... D*unk black, with no sugar or other flavours, as nature intended...

Unfortunately at work it's nescafe gold blend or nothing. I do find though the trick with any instant is to make sure the water is not boiling - either add a little bit of cold water (or milk, if you must) before the hot or let the kettle stand for a minute after it's boiled. Makes a significant difference to the taste.

Yes you're right having water just off the boil does help.

Mr Parts if I could give you a warm, sunny day I would .

There's a place we go that you can sit on the terrace overlooking the sea even in winter as long as the suns shining, we've spent many a happy hour there with a coffee and a redbush tea

Was fortunate to get a start working for a high end coffee shop a few years ago and it opened my eyes. Starbucks and Costa are now a last resort.

At home I'm using an aeropress and grind my beans daily now. Proper coffee snob lol
