Anyone Radio Ham's or people into Radio Scanners?,

Had a scanner years ago "Realistic pro 26" back in the day, you could listen to mobile calls but then everything went digital, just wanted to know what you could pick up nowadays? Bought one off EBAY also does anyone know about the discriminator mod? All advice appreciated.
