I'm sure I have read before that the richest 1% of people are wealthier than the other 99% combined? Not sure how true that is...?

It seems to me that the super rich lead very lonely lives, surrounded by people who work for them. I'd rather just have z few million to live a comfortable life and still have a normal existence. A lot of young people have appeared on the list this year, it seems all you need is a good app and you're a billionaire with a year, good on'em x

The don't own my house or my car , nor my neighbours , or my neighbours neighbours , or my ...... You get the idea don't you. They may own a lot , but not virtually everything. "

This isn't 100% accurate.

First, the 1% invests their money in stuff like, you know... your wages.

And then you go out and spread those wages around to various big corporations like for example when you bought your car, neighbours car and your neighbours, neighbours car, where some other corporation LOANED THAT money to the Corporation/company who SOLD those cars to you and your neigbours

....which THOSE corporations ultimately hand it over to the 1% again because THOSE 1% OWN those fucking corporations.

The 1% are the 1% because they are SMART.

I'd say at the very least it would be better to understand how cane into effect than how it gets distributed.

However if you take the rate of return on capital being greater than economic growth over the long term, the obvious conclusion is money goes to money whether you work hard or not!

That's not exactly a valid excuse though mate.

The 1% will always be on top because the majority of the remaining 99% make bad decisions. They know that, they understand the deal, they leverage that and that is why they are the 1%.

It's not the 1%'s fault you keep giving your money back buying stupid shit and not investing in yourself then wondering why the fuck you don't have it anymore..

Here's the thing...

Most People spend half their lives doing stupid shit and the other half trying to explain why it totally wasn't really stupid. But the whole time the 1% are to blame for their stupid shit and bad decisions.

Now see, by that logic the moaners and bitchers in this thread might aswell blame Homer Simpson for their woes because that would in fact, make every bit of sense as blaming the 1%.

And as for the guy a few posts above above who thinks they are all mass murderers and out to fucking kill us..Aye sir ok. Lol just fucking lol!

You have absolutely no fucking idea about basic economics because if you did you would know why that is complete bullshit.

It wasn't an excuse - merely an observation. Everyone makes bad decisions and choices...1% or otherwise. It stands to reason that the impact of those decisions can depend upon how wealthy you or your family is. Such is privilege.

How some families acquired money, whether it was through hard graft, a positive attitude, slavery, war, blood diamonds or just walking across the right bit of a beach with a metal detector matters little, I feel. It is what it is and for the foreseeable future, that's how it'll remain.

I'm happy with my little piece of the pie.

I'm lucky...ive been privileged. I had a supportive family, decent academic ability, good health, the fortune to find a special someone to spend my life with...I could go on.

I personally feel that any successes I've had in my life involved more than the amount of vigour I yanked my bootstraps by.

It's cool if others don't agree.

It depends whether your happy living in a system that's designed to repress 99% of the population.

If economic growth in the long term is below inflation in the long term, then obviously everyone will be kept on the treadmill.(although myself personally, I'm quite happy being on the treadmill)

If you create currency through debt with interest applied, again your always going to have a 99% if it is 99%? I'd probably think it's something more like 99.999% , if we're taking the wealthiest people in the world list

I would add that if you took a straw poll of people from here, "what would they do if they were a billionaire",you would probably find a high percentage of answers like retire, sit on a beach, give to charity, buy an island, sit in the sun but I think "look after family" would be up there quite high, so you see there's a natural built in biological programme to "do very little" and "preserve your genes".

Of course I don't think "buy a position of influence" would be on most people lists, but probably if you want to keep hold of that billon pounds to "preserve your genes", you would most certainly need to buy influence.

So if you look at what billionaires do when they get a billon, they hardly ever retire to lie in the sun all day and most do buy positions of influence, so I'd say it's those two differences that keep them the 0.001%

Well good luck to them. Since I think they are all self made then they are a great aspiration group for the rest of us.

I said it would be even better to say how the money came into creation in the first place rather than how it's distributed.

Why..what do you care?...you don't have it and you think the 1% shouldn't have it.

It's not your concern really is it?..or is it?... .

It depends whether your happy living in a system that's designed to repress 99% of the population.

If economic growth in the long term is below inflation in the long term, then obviously everyone will be kept on the treadmill.(although myself personally, I'm quite happy being on the treadmill)

Well what can I say. .

Your lack of ambition is NOT the 1%'s fault.

And anyway..really..

Lets just assume for a second the 1% didn't exist.

Where would you get your electricity from?.. Your gas?...your oil?...

Your internet connection? ...your ability to post on this website?...in fact, your ability to even fucking connect to this website?...."

.

It's only a lack of ambition if you want to be a billionaire?.

Your confusing a monetary driving force and innovation.

There's two separate things and you don't always get one through the other.

So your of the opinion of trickle down economics as a functional stimulus for innovation, but as you've already pointed out the money trickles upwards, wouldn't it be better to chuck the money at the bottom and let it take it's natural course.

Your theory that everything I do through technological innovation is completely flawed. You can't pay somebody to have ideas, that only comes through creativity, all you can do is buy a creative persons time while he's being creative.

Anyhow getting back to the original point I made is that capital is out earning labour and it has done for quite some number of years, and that is the main reason you have a concentration of wealth in the 1%

Tesla.

Think that through properly...

No need to think about it...all you are doing is propagating the lie that has brainwashed you by the 1%...that control you...wake up!!

Sir, with all due respect I have not been brainwashed.

I can think for myself and I have my own individual opinion(s). "

Haven't you noticed that the Rothschild's weren't on that rich list?...When Jacob Rothschild personal wealth is $500 trillion... You've got to ask yourself what else are the 1% hiding from us??????

Ok, I see some of you have not done their homework on this, either that or they just like to post inflammatory comments for the hell of it. I would put my money on ignorance. This guy will spell it out for you. Watch and learn or keep your comments to your self.

Well if you know his personal wealth they are not doing a very good job at hiding anything are they ?

Why are you using the term 1% still ? Everyone in England on above average wage is in the top 1%.

I seriously CANNOT take that statement seriously. If you could see me now I am properly belly giggling like an idiot here.

Ok, Let's assume the 1% are hiding EVERYTHING from us and equally let's assume they are hiding NOTHING from us.

What does that REALLY change?...

Nothing that's what.

The 1% are smart, they saw things 99% of us didn't. But that's not their fault.

Blaming shit on any Rothschild conspiracy makes every bit of sense as Blaming it on Bart Simpson, because really, you might as well.

I'm done here in this thread. This is getting fucking ridiculous.

Well before you go take a moment to read the Balfour declaration 1914...and you are right nothing will change unless the 99% make it happen

that's not technically accurate though.

Earnings are not wealth.

Wealth is assets.

If I earn a million a week but spend a million a week without acquiring assets, I don't technically have any wealth, admittedly it would be very hard but at 20k a year probably very do able
