I'm looking at getting a new phone after the disaster ive had with my iPhone 6 I asked for a refund. I'm currently using my iPhone 5s however it's glitching after two years (not impressed).
Anyway ive narrowed it down to two, a HTC one m8 or a Sony experia z3...
Anybody got these phones love them or hate them?!?

It was constantly rebooting it's self... Wasn't syncing... Get extremely hot in my pocket when nothing was running in the background... They ran it as a bugged phone tried to say I'd put a virus ob the phone. Last glith they made me go mental was using it as a sat hav and just decided to switch off and never turn on! |

Battery replacement needed - apple store would replace full handset easily enough ? |

Apple sell loads of iphones, so you must have got a duff one.
The question really is do you want to go Android or IOS (or maybe win8), the hardware is almost irrelevant.
Personally, I think Android is pants, but was the only option in a free upgrade when my old phone started to get screen rash - Still seriously thinking of repairing the screen and going back to a proper phone that worked as a phone first and foremost, with proper buttons and a hands free mode that was safe to use when driving. |

I have both current models of Samsung + iPhone - they are both good in their own way.
But some people won't appreciate the differences cos they may not use the full functionality.
+ some are wannabe experts |

Oh dear... Technology isn't perfect and sometimes worse with a lemon like that one. |

"Samsung/Android every time.
Of all Android phones, Samsung are the worst.
It's highly debatable whether any Android phone can improve over an iPhone, but don't recommend a Samsung. "
According to all the research, you are definitely in the minority, looks like you have also had a personal bad handset experience. |

WhY is a 'proper' phone as you call it any safer to use hand free when driving???surely the activity is as safe or dangerous as the other??? |

The new HTC One M9 is out soon...might be worth hanging on a couple of months.
Great phone though, I have the M7 and it's the first phone I've ever had that I'm not considering changing as soon as the contract expires. |

Sony Xperia's are the future, I've seen it!
I love mine, always recommend them and when my friends/family get one they aren't disappointed. I guess anything is better than your iPhone though lol |

I have the z3, it's a cracking phone. Lightening quick and will still be quick in a few years to come. One bug bear I have with it though, is it's constant updates, it updates pretty much weekly. Doesn't seem to do anything either though, but if you can putake up with tha.. A 20 mp camera is great, 128gb expandable storage is great, speed is great, screen is sharp, battery honestly last for 3-4 days without charge with regular use.
Just it's updates are annoying. Lots of features though, even able to transfer iPhone content. The HTC is supposed to be very good also, Google some user comparison videos. They give practical advice on size, specs, day to day handling. |

"Go for a top end Lumia! Windows phones are amazing "
I used to feel the same way, until their updates and now both mine and Bradley's phones are virtually unuseable.
O.P: I can honestly say that Sony's are the best, most reliable phones I've ever had. I knew I'd regret being talked into something different and shall be moving back to Sony first chance I get.

I don't get all the rage over these smart phones there to small to watch movies on and to big to put in your pocket without noticing. Still people rush to sign us to entering into taking out small mortgauges to have one.
Ime more than happy having a crappy lil phone with unlimited txts and calls that doesn't cost me a small monthly fortune.
any films music I wanna dload I just dload of me laptop and watch of it thru either me laptop or telly.
Could it possibly be hip to be square ?

Have a z3 compact here. Just as good as the z3 but more us able size and cheaper.
Recommend it highly.
Two things to note if you switching to android from iOS... Everything is a whole lot less seamless as far as back ups, syncing, notifications etc, which takes getting used to. And the interface is rather ugly in comparison to iOS 7/8, but this could all change with android L when it finally makes it to Xperia.
Battery life is far better than iPhone though and great performance. And as stated by someone else, it is only slightly waterproof. |

I've recently moved away from iPhone after being loyal user since the start. Got Fed up of not being able to increase the memory and having to delete media to complete updates.
I now have HTC and love it. bf has Samsung and as others have said, he seems to have weekly software updates, I don't.
Friends have Windows phone, but it frustrates them as it turns apps on by itself killing the batterY. |

I'd say the m8 too. I'm on the m7 and its now over two years old and not great. Recently upgraded to a Samsung and actually sold it and went back to the HTC. |

"I have the M8 and it's the best phone I've had. So much better than the iPhone 5 I also have. I love it. "
It would be a sorry state of affairs if a phone released this year wasn't as good as one released in 2012.
Of course, the iPhone 5 will still be viable as a daily phone in another three years...you'll be very lucky if you find your M8 as lovely to use in 2018. |

Agree! Everyone I know with them insists they couldn't go back to Android or iPhone again "
Have the Lumia 930, love it. The HD screen is incredible & the camera is reckoned to be the best on the market. Extremely stable operating system that is so was to use, plus its fast.
Have an Android tablet & its awful by comparison, just bought a windows tablet instead. |

That's not setting it up correctly, my Lumia lasts me 9hrs on one charge. |

It'll be viable as long as Apple support the OS updates.
Not sure how well iOS 8 runs on an iPhone 4? Probably not very if the performance of our old iPad 2 is anything to go by!

"New HTC m9 is out now too x"
Looks to have some very top specs with it.
Mines an Xperia Z3 compact and a great phone (release date sept 2014), but it was a toss up between the M8 and the Z3. I think the M9 (release date Mar 2015) would get my vote if I was getting a new phone now. |
