What songs have you heard that is a different style to the original song?

The 1st one I heard was back in the 90s and it was Mike Flowers Pops and Wonderwall.... in case you are too young http://youtu.be/Vy1ueZf1WMQ

Then last month I heard Firestarter by Torre Florim. http://youtu.be/IPI3b9iPSN0

And now I have just heard the death metal version of Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious - http://youtu.be/iU2hy0L5lgg

I remember the Mike Flowers cover!

I hate it when bands destroy the originals especially when people cover queen!

I hated this one with a passion

G4 - Bohemian Rhapsody

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gTyKwxAK8l4

Watch the video - they destroyed it!

This may not be popular, but i unfortunately gained a track on a compilation CD :

Amy Winehouse - Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow.

Utterly dreadful, sounds nothing like the decent versions that have preceded it.

"A lot that are suddenly being used in dance sings. Makes me feel old when I'm out x"

But surely it means that you can seem "hip and trendy" because you know all the words

It also shows the level of unimaginative talents that exists in the music industry that they have to rip off an old track!! Although it does look good when you start singing along to a "new" song with kids in the car and they turn to you and say how do you know this??

I agree... although I don't object to a good cover version, I do particularly dislike dance acts "sampling" other peoples tunes.

It's all a question of taste I guess!

The flaming lips have a great version of a day in a life by the Beatles. Miley Cyrus sings on on it.

i think the guy was called Gary Jules

An interesting one is "our lips are sealed" co written by Jane Weidlin of the gogos and Terry Hall of the Specials and Fun boy Three. It is about the affair they had when the two bands toured together.

"The King" is an elvis impersonator that did a cd of covers of dead artists called "Gravelands" his version of "no woman no cry" is excellent. Many people on hearing it for the first time actually believe it is Elvis

"Depeche mode - mad world"

Mad world was tears for fears.

Celldweller covered their 'louder than words'. pretty good tune as well.

Gangstas paradise.

Prefer the coolio version than the original.

Hip hop is littered with samples and covers...some great, some less so.

My Immortal

Evanesence did 2 versions.. i prefer the version with the rock/metal section to the straight forward ballad one.

Tori amos - Rain in blood (slayer) fucking awfull dreary slow version of a thrash classic.

Somata arctica - Wind beneath my wings. Bet Midlers song given the power metal treatment.

Ive heard power metal covers of the following that were fantastic but not entirely sure who did them..

Its a sin - pet shop boy

Dancing with tears in my eyes - ultravox

Hymn - Ultravox

Limahl - Never ending story

Also have so many punk covers Ive filled 5 cd's with them. I often go on you tube type in a song name and add punk or metal cover you would be amazed what you find.
