My understanding is that coconut oil is only just being brought to the mass market and you can use it for both cooking AND as a moisturiser (I guess you could use vegetable oil as a moisturiser if you really wanted to).
I bought some today. Cheaper than the same amount of decent brand moisturiser, smells really fresh and hopefully my skin will start feeling the benefits.
Does anyone else use it?
Might make a nice emergency lube too! |

Tesco. It's by Vita Coco, organic & 100% raw. Very different texture to actual cocoa butter.
Definitely wouldn't apply lots of it! |

I use it for cooking curries, along with Ghee.
What you will probably notice is its white and solid, think of it as beef dripping or lard.
In hotter countries it rests in its normal liquid format.
I warm the glass bottle up gentle in a pan of water which is warming to a boil |

I used it on my psoriasis but it made it worse after a while.
Some people do react to it so be careful, as with everything. I used to put it in the bath though, it smells lush!
It's yummy though - I have it with mashed sweet potato, or melted into a jacket sweet potato with cinnamon and salt on top.
Or fry chicken in it. Yum!

Not sure about all the claims made for it - we have had plenty of other superfoods thrust at us before - and it's very high in calories. However it's absolutely fantastic for shaving your pussy - gets it really very smooth (as my photos show ) |

Tremendous stuff!
Shaving - no need for any other gels or foams. use with hot water and the razor glides over the skin - no tugs or pulls, and the razor doesnt get clogged with the normal foam or gel - so you get a smoother/better shave...
Moisturising - great if you have dry skin, as it doesnt leave the skin oily
Only trouble with using it in this country is that due to our normal northern hemisphere climate, most of the time the "oil" will be in its solid state.
Running the bottle under a hot tap for a short time is enough to get a small amount of it to its liquid state - or you could leave the bottle on a radiator
Alternatively decant it to a large enough tub or container that allows you to get your fingers (or spoon) in!
A 200ml bottle lasts ages

I love coconut oil, great for your skin and your hair.
I have been using various types of oils for the last 20 years: coconut, almond, avocado etc are great. Love Argan oil too. Amazing how expensive they all are now!
A cheap facial scrub is olive oil, a drop of vitamin E oil and golden sugar!
