It was a fascinating watch.... Interesting as it was the locals who didn't want it the protesting a program they hadn't see yet ended up being the ones that looked bad....
That local mp should be disgusted with himself |

That was exactly my take on it. They didn't want the film crew there for fear of being portrayed in a bad light, yet gave them all the ammunition they could ask for. |

"yeah thought it was quite thought provoking...just shows tho how good things can be when everyone tries to get along.
wonder if c4 will do a "swinger street" version lol"
Very true..did feel for the old Jamaican dude. ..he was jst chatting away to the crew.
BUT it was nice to see everyone get along. People on both sides of the fence wreck it ir try to wreck it for everyone |

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
I've just watched a bit where the producer did a phone interview with the local radio station.
Quite rightly he said that you don't have to view the word immigration with negative connotations.
It's interesting that the discourse in this country now is that immigration is a viewed negatively.
I'm not sure I can be bothered to watch the rest as the programme seems to be about the making of the programme.

That's just what I'm thinking
(Bloody Immigrants, I think it went downhill when we let those Romans in. I mean, what have they ever done for us? apart from better sanitation and medicine and education and irrigation and public health and roads and a freshwater system and baths and public order... apart from that, what have these immigrants ever done for us?)

I like immigration. It's nice to see different cultures, rather than all being the same. My family were immigrants. Possibly Angles, or Vikings, but definitely not local. We've graduated to being yokel and in a few 100 years may be local. |

Having slept on it, and discovered that it's only a one-off, it certainly seems it says little about immigration, and more about how (since Benefits Street) people view programme-makers such as this nowadays.

That's not the first time someone's said that about me.
(And I'm normally on the naughty step when they say it!) |

Can't agree more. Mind you, I did laugh now that White Dee has hit the big time and charges huge fees to speak at events....and is no longer on benefits! |

I found it very odd TV, it started as an interesting look into multi-cultural Britain and then went pear shaped. The most memorable line was that immigration is not a bad word. |
