On my whos nr by list got ppl in northampton birmingham an even oldham coming up like (there name) there 2-3 miles away but driving 230 250miles ????????

'driving' relates to the postcode they have entered on their profile, I believe. The other figure relates to where their mobile currently is.

We use it to tell when the postie's coming up our drive

But now I have the mental picture, from the early days of 'who's near' (pre-automation) of dozens of Fab staff pushing little flags around a map of the UK, using long sticks. All dressed in a sexy version of the RAF uniform.

Along with cries of "Bandits approaching, sir" and "Emergency Stealth-mode: down periscope"!
