Hi all... I have a friend who hates his teeth, the colour, gaps and chipped bits. They have never been good and its true they do not enhance his look.
He would like to go drastic and have them all removed and implants instead.
He says no reputable dentist would remove them for cosmetic reasons as they do still function.
Has anyone any knowledge if this can be done even abroad or if there's an alternative to something so drastic.
Thanks for your help. I think it would help his self esteem if there is an answer.

With the ever increasing cases of shoddy cosmetic procedures abroad Id encourage him to not do that at all.
Why would he remove the teeth? Live had work done with out the need to remove teeth |

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
I'm fairly sure there will be somewhere abroad that would do it.
That 10 years younger programme, or whatever it was called, used to get their teeth removed and smiles fixed.
However, wouldn't something less drastic like caps achieve more or less the same thing? |

See it all the time on makeover programmes like 10 years younger, etc. If they have bad teeth then they do a cosmetic procedure called veneers. I think most of the cast of the only way is essex have had it done and many other celebs, but it could be expensive and have to have it done private? Don't think they would do it on the Nhs. |

My ex had a bridge that was purely cosmetic, there was nothing wrong with his teeth he just had gaps, they took out his front four teeth and build him a bridge with no gaps |

Would suggest he goes to a reputable dentist to find out what they can and will do before exploring potentially dodgy options abroad. There's a hell of a lot that can be done with caps and veneers, although it could be expensive. |

You don't need to go abroad, any dentist will do any work, it just depends if you can afford it, my ex had his bridge nearly 20 years ago and it cost about £800 then
He had no problem finding a dentist to do the work either |

It sounds like what he wants are implants however dentists don't like removing healthy teeth for cosmetic reasons. Maybe he should enquire about veneers instead. Does not require tooth extraction. |

Go with caps and veneers. I knocked a couple of teeth out a few years ago and have to have implants. It's not a quick fix, involving titanium pegs and regular visits to have them tightened with a specialist torque wrench as they heal into the jaw so if he still has his teeth then using them as the basis for veneers and caps would be more time efficient and probably a lot more cost effective. |

A guy who used to come into my work had loads of dental work done in Hungary and his were fab! There was a chap on here a could of weeks back going to Poland I think it was.
People panic about going abroad but as long as you research well you can save a small fortune! My tits can't from Belgium and saved me £2000!! |

I have one veneer that broke a week before a holiday, a front tooth! Horrified I found a private dentist who fixed it with a replacement. £500 all in, including a temp, for one tooth!
Id like the all done. |

Titanium implant, tooth and medical expenses ie consultations, dentist, maxillofacialist procedure, room for recovery etc
£10,000 five years ago, Bupa.
But that was through insurance.

you could try whatclinic dentists is like a postcode lottery you can pay less elsewhere
copied and pasted from a newspaper article in telegraph last year
The cost of a check-up, for example, is £67 in a Stratford-upon-Avon dental surgery, but only £15 in Bradford.
According to WhatClinic.com, a private health care online search engine
Teeth-whitening, which has grown in popularity in recent years, costs £600 in London, but just £163 in Portsmouth.
Oxford was found to be the most expensive place to get veneers (£610), with the average cost across the UK at £428. Wolverhampton offers the best deal at £240.
Root canal treatment in Stockport would cost £595, but just £85 in Swindon. |

It sounds awfully drastic, and I'd not trust my whole mouth to a surgeon abroad - I may get a tooth or so have work done, but not the whole lot, when there are nightmare stories even from dentists in the UK.
I think veneers have a short lifespan, so if he had those he'd need to re-do the work. Expect a 10 years or so lifespan from them - they'd have removed some of his enamel first to fit them, so replacing them, and the cost of further repetitions, would need to be acceptable.
He could also go for some easy treatments, such as whitening, which could lift his smile and confidence.

With my example there were problems with the replacement tooth, colour matching for one, it took the company two attempts then the tooth broke after one year, the back just crumbled away.
The company used by Bupa are based in Sweden but provided. A lifetime guarantee so all covered.
Good luck with that with cheaper alternatives abroad and any traveling costs involved. |

I'm going to Poland in April. Look at Poland! There medical and surgical standards are much much better than ours! In Poland the system only funds Bio Sciences and New Technologies, they are the only two things so as you can imagine they are very good! |

Many insurers don't class Turkey as Europe. And EHI cards are not valid in Turkey. |
