No - do some research

Go to a meet

Do a course

Do not fuck about reading a book

The potential to do serious damage is huge

ESPECIALLY on soft tissue

Spare the roses, send me the thorns (I think that's what it is called) is a good book that explains a lot about toolsused in bdsm.

There are also YouTube videos etc on the Web that show you through how to tie someone. I'm sure someone will come along and say who does them.

It's good that you are willing to put time and effort into understanding how to master these things rather that just going out there and giving it a bash which can be dangerous.

No its not. Firstly, he is trying to do simecresearch and he gets shot down for it? Secondly, what's the point of going on a meet when he doesn't know what he is doing?

A course maybe a good suggestion but I'd imagine costly so maybe he wants to see if it's really for him before committing to that.

IMHO of course

Evie!!

There are a good few Japanese books that cover the rope work beautifully...and you can even buy some of them from Amazon...

I did not suggest a meet!

There is absolutely no substitute for hands on.

All the books and videos WILL NOT show you the difference in tension on a cord.

Laying a knot in the right orientation.

I've worked with ropes for over 25yrs but there are things I wouldn't consider.

It's far too easy to inflict serious damage

So the bit where you said go to a meet wasn't suggesting a meet then?

I think he meant more like a group, like a Munch or a workshop. There are various demos at events such as BBB and the like sometimes.

Ah I see. Perhaps that should have been explained considering he was giving advice to someone new to rope.

Thanks

Incidentally, I agree that rope play is something that needs to be learnt properly.

There's a lot of scope to do serious, permanent damage if you get it wrong.

It's one of those things that cannot be learnt safely or properly from a book.

And I'm sure he did bit it still wasn't clear that when someone said go to a meet they meant go to a group gathering of rope enthusiasts. A bit like when someone experienced in bdsm suggests going to a munch to someone who doesn't know the lingo.

It's all clear now though.

I munch every month too... Usually I stay quiet in the discussions but this I feel strongly about so if the op has questions then he can pm me... I'm happy to give him advice
