yeah, the size will help to determine where.
Just did a quick google and there is a nice swirly design (cant describe it lol) that is supposed to symbolise new beginnings but i guess it depends on if you want something special to your new beginnings |

How about a wee phoenix on the back of your hand or wristphoenix was another thought but I'm heading down the lotus flower route I think"
i think phoenix's need to be fairly big to get good enough detail in them.

yes, a lot of facteres, mainly losing weight and my bi polar battle much better as I get older and the fact that I'm 50.
The lotus flower grows in muddy water( my past) and then turns into the flower, its quite a popular choice

that does sound a very good symbol for it. Lotus flowers are lovely and i think they can work as smaller pieces. Just research your artist well to make sure you are happy with it.

well all my others have been spur of the moment choices, if I find a good tattooist may even have it large between my shoulder blades, really I'm just talking this out load to myself, it helps when other people input

What about a portrait.
I have a picture of my mum in the 50s. She was 18 and all glamorous with a fitted dress and pin curled hair. I am going to have this tattooed somewhere.
The only problem for me is finding a good portrait tattooist as obviously it must be completely accurate.  |

I've got a lovely feminine tattoo on my foot. The flowers all represent family members as per their sun signs. It's always admired. It was two hours work though too much for your first tattoo? |
