Just wondering if there are any comic book fans on fab.
For this I am more thinking beyond the films but given Marvels recent successes I suppose there will be a few who have followed on from the films to the pages of comic books.
So yeah anyone else around? |

Impressive. I have a fair collection but ive a feeling yours puts mine to shame. I too focus mainly on marvel. I like the realism between a lot of the characters |

Have a soft spot for 2000AD as well, recently bought a big box full of old copies for £20,some of them dating back to the 80's.
I'll happily admit to being a big kid! Lol |

I'm a massive comic book geek.
Anything from the classics like 2000ad to mainstream marvel and dc all the way to indie hits such as Y the last man, DMZ and THE BOYS
Cant get enough comics. |

i got the first 50 copies of 2000ad in my folks attic from when me and my brother bought them in the 70's (used to love the strip "Flesh"). i didn't read much comics until the late 80's when i got into Deadline comics and then Crisis, Toxic and Revolver. It's a shame to hear that it was only on monday that Brett Ewins (worked on judge dredd, rougue trooper and co-founder of deadline comic) tragically died of emphysema aged 59.
i used to read the hellblazer comic around that time too which later got made into the film constantine starring keanu reeves.
Big Bang comics from the mid 80's was a funny read featuring russel the hippy in a british version of the freak brothers. their trip to glastonphant festival is a scream. |

I have about 9 number 1 issues of Marvel characters and 100's of Marvel comics from the 70's till now, I am also collecting digital Marvel comics on DVD that play on Windows/Apple/Android.
Kim used to get inored with my collecting but she don't mind the discs as they take up less room. |

I have got the Alien/Predator collection on Dark and also their Conan collection which until then thought he was solely Marvels copyright.
Also have Superman and Spiderman together, Judge Dredd vs Alien and Predator, Alien vs Batman etc where the comics merged their Dc/Marvel andd Dark Horse characters. |

See I can't handle the idea of only having them on disk. As a collector I have to have the physical copy |

I've got a complete collection of Catwoman series 1 and 2. I'm a huge fan of Jim Balent's Catwoman. I've been collecting since I was about 18.
I stopped collecting at the end of series 2 because I don't like the new costume.
I also collected Buffy and Angel, from issue 1 onwards for quite a while. I need to try to sell those soon because I don't have space for them.
I have various other titles, books, action figures and memorabilia.
I have a large Catwoman lithograph in my living room, along with a painting of Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman. |

Originally a 2000AD fan, but now I am not a great liker of spandex clad types except when tongue in cheek. Love Garth Ennis's work and Brubaker (ok he did do captain america winter soldier) particularly criminal. |

Ive been a fan of Batman since childhood. Collected up Walking Dead since before it was cool. Like slightly different stuff like the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Watchmen, Hell Boy and other bits and pieces. Gareth Ennis' work is a fave too. |

When I bought my house I found a big box of comics in the loft. They were from the 70's and 80's and each one was in it's own plastic wallet. They were in full collections and in numerical order. There must have been a few hundred of them. I couldn't be bothered researching them so I sold them in bulk for 50 quid, maybe I should have taken the time to go through them |

I did check eBay at the time for one or two special editions and number 1's that were in there. A couple were going for about a tenner each but it would have been a lot of work to do the research and catalogue them etc. I do remember one in particular, it was a book with porn type drawing of girls out of a comic, witch blade or something like that, I think I sold that separately tho |

Yes it would've taken time but just one could've been worth hundreds, maybe more dependant on the character and edition |

When i met Kim i had almost 900 comics plus about 40 of the Marvel books summer special etc.
I still buy no.1 issues of any comics i can like 2000 AD no.1 for 50p in a second hand shop.
The digital DVD discs hold around 300 comics so on 2 i have Spiderman 1-600 in high quality CBZ files.
As you push the space bar it goes up a section etc.
I would rather collect them in paper format but this way i have thousands of comics in a nice size folder. |

I love comics!
I'm more Marvel than anything else. But I will read most stuff. Except Scott Pilgrim and tif like.
Been reading them since early 2000.
I'd recommend:
Transmetropolitan
Crossed
Necronomicon
The Boys
Nemesis
Watchmen
Deadpool Kills....(there's a few of these)
Marvel What If? (again, few of these but are really good)
Civil War-All the comics not just the GNs
Wolverine origins
Punisher Max
Ax Cop |

I really want to get into comics but don't know where to start, like the marvel superhero stuff and wish they'd make a Deadpool movie
Problem is I don't know where to start?
Is it easy to pick up the stories, or search for back issues and start at issue 1?

Read them since I was a kid. Working in a comic shop just fuelled my obsession and took up a lot of my bedroom. Only read graphic novels now but I still have uncanny x-ray dating back to early 1970s!
Just imagine how much the ones my mother told me to throw away would be worth. |

This thread makes me realise just how much of a geek I am! I own (or have least read) almost every book mentioned on here have collected for about 35 years now but only buy collected editions or graphic novels nowadays. Yo the poster asking where to start, look at omnibus editions, you get a complete series in 1 book. They can be a little pricey but work out cheaper than buying individual comics or smaller collections and I can point you in the direction of a couple of sites that do them at less than half the retail price |

Has anyone seen the Morgan Spurlock comic con film? It's really good.
I'd love to go, but with about 50,000 people attending, I'd rather not smell that much BO or be really hot.
Anyone going to the magna comic con in Sheffield? |
