I was just wondering how many guys on hear use old fashioned shaving cream and a brush.

Years ago I gave up using the tinned shaving gel as it was full of un natural ingriedents and colours, also the propellants. I mostly buy Truffit and Hill stuff but if anyone knows of a better product I would be interested to hear what you use.

So just wondering how popular is the old fashioned way with the guys.

I've been meaning to go old school like that for ages, the brush is supposed to be good for stopping ingrowing neck hairs too. You've reminded me.

I use a badger brush, Palmolive shaving soap, (that's the one in its own dish), Gillette blades and a Gillette Fatboy razor that's about 55 years old. It was my dads, and it beats any modern razor hands down. I wouldn't use it on my downstairs though!

Try a face scrub before shaving but don't scrub too hard, that is suppose to help in grown hairs.

I am not a big fan of soaps compared to creams , I think the cream protects the face a bit better.

Watching a man shave the old fashioned way with the brush and shaving soap is strangely erotic

I have given a lady friend and intimate shave, I massaged in shaving oil first then used rose shaving cream , she loved the experience and the smell, and my I say I was very proud of myself for getting everything so smooth.

Never used the tinned stuff, always used a proper bristle brush and soap pot.

Used to use a proper cutthroat too....left the strop for it at an old place when I moved and never replaced it

Much nicer shave than the bought Gillette type ones I use now....

My husband does this whilst I'm in the bath. He looks so sexy with the towel wrapped around his waist. Something so masculine about it. I think he does it deliberately because he knows I get off on it.

Read an article many moons ago in GQ that said tinned shaving creams/gels were originally produced to be used as a temporary measure...and that you should always use a brush and soap.

As a paid up member of the beard club I completely ignore this of course...

Converted to traditional shaving about 2 years ago. Now have a selection of brushes, razors (both DE, SE, straight and shavettes) and more soaps and creams than I needs. It becomes more of a hobby the more you get into it. This morning I had a shave with a razor that is 102 years old and it beats any of the modern multi blade razors hands down.

Cream applied by hand. Cheap, disposable razor. Perfectly smooth finish.

Never had an electric razor that gets anywhere near as close as a proper blade. Treat yourself and get to the barbers ( there is a good turkish one in bolton)and have a proper shave. The hair wont come through for a full day, as it stays inside trembling in fear.

Had a couple of shaves while in Turkey...by far the smoothest and long lasting shaves I've ever had.

The one in Bolton washes your hair hot towels your face, shaves you, the applies lemon lotion to your face (that wakes you up!), head and shoulder massage, trims eyebrows and threads them if necessary and burns hair from your ears painlessly. Takes about half an hour altogether and its about twelve quid!

"I would love to trust a man enough to do the whole proper shaving ritual on my pussy with a cut throat "

When I was living in halls at collage up in Penrith is when I used to use a cutthroat, well....myself and a mate who lived in the same halls (he and I bought the razors and strops from a little shop in Penrith) ended up having three of the equine study girls we would go out with come up on a thursday evening and we'd shave their legs for them before drinks and heading to blues nightclub (wonder if that's still there?)..we thought we were pretty slick for that

Thank goodness you said 'before drinks'

I was taught to use a cut throat by shaving a balloon covered in shaving foam

Taylors sandalwood shaving cream, badger brush and a cutthroat. Heaven is a good shave. I have a beard now but still shave neck etc. I do sometimes just shave it all off to enjoy a proper shave again.

When i worked in a care home one old boy refused to be shaved any other way than with a cut throat, I was the only one brave/stupid enough to give it a go, but was suprisingly easy, would probably be more so on a erm, younger, face!

Yes. Mostly in the USA. A good hot towel/ open razor shave can last 3-4 days.
