Lol they look nothing like scones! A softie is just a softie, a roll you cut in half and fill with ham and cheese etc a butterie is like half a softie but firmer and made predominantly with suet (I think) quite high in fat but can be made either sweet or savoury, very versatile |

Oven bottom barmcakes. Cobs are rock hard and crusty (good with soup).
Baps are smaller than barns.
Teacakes have got currants in (no arguing yorkies!).
Rolls are southern baps.
Stotties are barns, but a perfectly acceptable substitute.
I might even accept muffin, but it has to have chips and gravy in it. |
