Clarkson's first wife confirmed that what you see on TV is what she had to deal with in real life, she said it's the result of truly horrendous parenting by his middle-class parents.
Clarkson is/was an exact duplication of his father in both his attitude and treatment of other's he deemed inferior due to their social class or employment sector.it ain't an act it's his natural attitude you see on the telly. |

Yes, they're opinionated bumholes, but they are paid to be so. I've not heard that the majority of celebs are altruistic and humble, so not sure why these three are expected to behave differently.
I enjoy Top Gear, but if I didn't I wouldn't spend all my time deriding those who do. |

The programme is successful because it's entertaining. It may not appeal to everyone, that is why we have several channels that broadcast simultaneously, and these days, we have internet tv for catch up. As a last resort there's an off switch and things like books or records/cds.
Personally I find it amusing most of the time, in a way that corrie/stenders/emmerdale/big brother/Xfactor aren't. So I never watch them.

"Controversial here but I love them....He says what I think...damn watch meet prospective meets dissapear"
5 million other people who watch Top gear in this country agree with you so the chances if finding a meet or toe from that lot are fairly good. Don't hang up your satin y-fronts just yet |

He moans about football but has a Chelsea's season ticket.
He blabbers on about running over hedgehogs with powewwer while in fact he owns a donkey sanctuary.
He speaks to the working class but lives the most middle class life in Oxford.
He moans about politicians but hobnobs with them at various parties..... He's in the entertainment businesses, he gives people what they want, not the truth |

Top gear is probably the only thing I watch on any of the BBC channels. Yes so Clarksons an opinionated knob but he's a funny opinionated knob and works well with the other two. Last weeks episode was the funniest thing I've seen in a long while! |

Clarkson is a great entertainer!
He and his chums have hit on a formula that is fantastic. He can even get the PM to join in his hype (remember the India special).
Love him or hate him the truth is he is a money making machine for the BBC. If at some point that income stream dries up they will dispense with his services.
In the man time I'll continue watching!
Will Smith was so entertaining tonight. |

I dont watch it anymore as I do not enjoy it. Simple.
I usedd to be a massive fan when it was an informative auto programme. Then descended into3 old blokes taking "exciting" road trips with huge support team and sponsors.
When will it be classed as same old same old? Or something my grandad watched? |

Yep, a friend of mine has met all three and they were gutted that both Clarkson and Hammond were completely vile, up their own arse people. Of the three, only James May was vaguely human. He was previously a massive fan of Top Gear but said meeting them has put him off for life.
I have always loathed the show. Unfortunately my dad watched it when I was still at home. And then I had a series of housemates who watched it. A constant stream of work colleagues who revelled in discussing it's every nuance.
And now a husband who watches it back to back, daily.
I now hate it so much more than I ever thought possible now it's constantly been shoved in my face for the last however many years.
And of course I'm usually a complete outcast for really not liking it so it's nice to see I'm not alone! Yay!!
I even ended up meeting a guy who in his initial message, said my photos were distracting him from Top Gear! I thought he deserved a fuck just for that, and I see him a fair bit now. Lol |

Other countries have their own Top Gear now & it's about cars, that's why they're so successful, unlike here!

Well that's so obvious, dude - but it's hard to imagine how some can be actually entertained by it, - I mean, if Stan' (or whoever) on 'On The Buses' kept 'accidently' leaving off the handbreak & nose-to-tailing everyone, would the yesterfolk have actually watched that shit?
.......... a trifle harsh comparison to 'some', maybe! |

Of course, I'm just saying their egos are inflated in the way that the BBC wants them to. The sad truth is people need a cunt, they need a show which caters for that kind of base comedy. So people can hate it, and others can love it. Every now and then they'll create some kind of "whoops they've done it again" controversy and people start watching again. |

So good production then. I don't really watch TV so I don't get sucked in by all the shit that surrounds it. But the top gear team seem to be getting it right. |

They are, the BBC loves Top Gear, it's the closest thing they have to the "man at the bar" demo, their wheelhouse is gritty crime drama, period pieces, and daytime reality/quiz shows. |

Does anyone think that the BBC maybe in on the deal and helping Clarkson, Hammond and May might creating controversy in order to keep the money flowing in for all concerned? |

I'm still none the wiser. It has a massive global audience which suggests they are doing something right. You can of course exercise your right not to watch, but you cannot deny it is a massively popular global franchise. |
