Holidays in April

I'm looking to book a holiday in April and I'm a bit stuck for ideas. I'm currently considering Venice, Crete or Rhodes - the last two in hopes of some warmth.

Has anyone got any suggestions? Nothing too pricey, I'm happy to do budget as long as it's clean and friendly. I like a mix of pleasant places to chill out in (beaches and countryside and nice cafes) and sights and museums to go round.

Tunisia's dirt cheap April/May time, Venice is rotten.

Crete is a beautiful place with everything you want and more. I've been there for the past seven years and can't get enough of it. Plus with the economy going to pot, you can get hotels pretty cheap.

Yeah but I'm not convinced about Tunisia. I'm looking for more than a beach/pool holiday and I like to explore on my own.

I like Malta, but I've been there for work so I fancied somewhere new.

I've also done the canaries so I don't fancy there.

Italy's beautiful I did a 10 day coach tour a few years back. Long journey but well worth it especially going through the Alps in Switzerland was amazing and I got to see more of Italy than I would have flying there and being stuck in one destination. Good prices and don't change too much for single travellers either if I remember

I've been to Venice before but I've still got a list of places to see and things to do so I fancy up to a,week there. Unfortunately venice is always pricey, especially for one.

I fancy abroad. I'll be having major surgery in the summer so won't be going anywhere exotic for a while. So I fancy foreign climes.

Menston near Ilkley

Ever been to Madeira or the Azores? Lovely islands and not expensive either. Plenty to see and do including whale watching.

Unfortunately I'm restricted by health issues about where I can travel to and still be insured.

So that puts Egypt and Sri Lanka out of the running. I'm not sure about Cuba though, will have to check my policy.

I've added Sardinia and Sicily to the list of possibilities as flights are cheap in April and so is accommodation.

Greek Islands are warm. If you are after heat, the Canaries.

Not quite as much heat, Madeira, holiday destination of Winston Churchill and birthplace of Christiano Ronaldo.

Rhodes is lush. And I've only been when it was too hot to properly enjoy so Easter is probably a great time.

I loved the Acropolis and St Paul's Bay in Lindos. A lot of walking up hills though.
