we've both got Sony Vaio's which we find definately adequate for use on here - had ours 3 years now so no doubt newer models available now though |

PC world or Dell is good, can pick up a semi-decent one for sub £300, if it's just for surfing the interenet. You could even go for a netbook but personally there a bit too small. |

Try a net book out first. The screen is small and so is the keyboard compared to a desktop. |

I bought an Acer Aspire 7738G recently and it's been very reliable. Fully multimedia capable. Big hard drive. Bluetooth enabled. Fingerprint protection. Looks sazzy too! £600. |

We have a netgear wireless router in the other room and both laptops connect through that. It's never gone down and has been running along smoothly since I put it in last year. |

If you just want it to get on here.... anything in PC World. Comparing spec is pretty much a waste of time if you are just using it for browsing.
Small is great if you are going to be carrying it around and using it outside of the home.... but you'll soon get fed up of the tiny screen and keyboard if it is just for the home.
Use one of the many comparison websites to find the cheapest in the High Street.

If you play games on FaceBook don't get a net book.
The screens arn't big enough to support them!!!
I just bought an Acer from Tesco, full screen, built in web cam. Really good little laptop, cost just over £340. And clubcard points too!!!! lol

Go to PC World or any other electrical shop and find the one you like then get the product model code and find it online much cheaper.
Also do it through Quidco for cashback and also find discount codes. |

Netbooks, screen will be small for serious web usage, okay for occassional email, checking news etc
But in terms of using sites like fab, of little use, and will feel slow.
Acer AS5532 at £339 from Tesco's is pretty good price, and if was buying my own probably what I'd get for the NSFW activities |

PC World online have some re-furbished lappys for sale. Hope that you get one that someone has returned because they just changed their mind, but chances are it will be one that`s been sent back with a fixable problem. By doing this, you can get a better spec for the same money! |
