Recumbent bikes are as effective as traditional uprights?

No real difference, find it more awkward to sit in a recumbent to be honest. Couldn't put as much effort through the pedals.

Good if you suffer back problems when cycling though

Thanks ive used one before when i used to go to the gym and they are very comfy and i had no problems using it.but im willing to sacrifice a little comfort if the uprights are better.

I'd say an upright works you harder because the position isn't as efficient. But as it's a stationary bike that makes no odds. If it were a road bike then efficiency is the key.

Ok great, Im Thinking I'll get the recumbent then if there's not much difference as I've more chance of keeping to it if it's comfier. Thanks

Staines

I recently switched from a standard bike to a recumbent and was very laid back about it
