when you say no to someone or no to something you dont want to do or go
on some messages i get i say "no thanks" or "sorry you don't meet my criteria" or "no sorry" when in reality im not sorry
(the above is an example)
so do we say sorry far far to much and its just a word now or do you use the word sorry when you mean it
thoughts?

"I'm sorry you won't reply to my mail ......
hang on .....I've not sent you one yet ......brb "
I am sorry i didn't reply to yours. My blocklist released it's minions and my inbox got flooded. Just sorting my page out over the next couple of days and hoping that sorts it.
I never insincerely apologise, but find i do apologise for things i don't need to. |

Guess, "sorry" just means I am sorry to (potentially)hurt your feelings by declining? It is a convention, which I sometimes use and other times I might just say "Thanks for mailing me, however, I am looking for different things"
Either work.. usually! |

"I usually say 'No thanks, good luck'.
I don't feel its the need to say sorry..because i don't feel i should be sorry that i don't want to meet someone. Its a personal choice. If that makes sense?"
thank you this is what i mean |

Sex is all about feelings, self image, and confidence. Guess only the hardest of individuals don't feel a twinge of disappointment or ego deflation when someone rebuffs their advances. This is why we always try to answer messages and let people down gently - and "sorry" helps us to do that. As a technique it obviously works because we never ever get abusive messages back. |

It's just you being polite, manners cost nothing. Do not see a problem it's not like you are trying to upset them. Don't worry be happy |

It depends what I am saying no to. If they just message something like 'wanna meet?' I just reply 'no thanks' but if they look like they have spent time reading my profile and writing a message then I would write a more in depth reply saying why not and good luck. It's the obly way I can reply to all my messages |

I always say sorry too and I never get abusive messages either.
I do think "no thanks" can sound really brutal and nasty in a written messages. |

"you are dammed if you do and dammed if you dont at times
" I try to use it less. I get the politeness that people talk about but there's also a hint of partonising about "sorry". As in, I am the one who get to say no to you and I also have the power to judge your feelings with the verdict that I have hurt them. I don't really know if I've hurt anybody by saying no, I would have to ask them first or have them to tell me if they are? |
