what the point of winks

"I rarely look at mine. Just delete them "
That's what I've seen from a lot of people, not sure if they used to be like the step down from a message, a cheeky, subtle flirt? But everyone seems to just message instead now? Usually something really witty and charming like "fuk 2nite???" |

We like using them. Its a way of showong interest. Weealways look at anyone who winks us, return it if we find the couple interesting. We find it strange that having returned a wink that often they dont then get in touch? |

Had one or two and sent one ir two but really I imagine they are only as good as the chances of getting to know the person if you aren't compatible then no point!! |

I send them to people (if not blocked) that I may be slightly below the age range of. As an alternative to sending a message when I'm clearly ignoring their profile by doing so. If they don't respond I don't message. Has worked in the past. |

"Sadly I would guess most females get so many inappropriate winks that only a really strong avatar pic will catch her attention before she deletes them all." I go in and read their profile text when I receive a wink. I'm looking for signs that they go to clubs too. then I would potentially ask them when they are out next "I send them to people (if not blocked) that I may be slightly below the age range of. As an alternative to sending a message when I'm clearly ignoring their profile by doing so. If they don't respond I don't message. Has worked in the past. " That's very similar to why I appreciate winks.
As I could spend 8 hours a day politely answering one liners/messages from single men I felt I had to add the filter excluding single men. If they send me a wink I have more of a choice in contacting the 'winker' and don't have to write endless replies to people who tend to stay only on the internet and are unlikely to take the step out in to real life. |

I like a wink...many a good meet started with a wink. I don't delete either as I really don't see the point. If I like the profile I'll wink back then it's up to them to message or not. If I don't like their profile they are so easy to ignore. |

our profile says no winks so when we get them it is obvious they havnt read our profile so we basically tell them thanks for not reading the profile then usually block them too..to us its ignorant to not read a profile before making any kind of contact..simple good manners seem to be damn near extinct on here though |

I've started using this feature more just now.
Mainly because there really isn't anything on the profile in order to tailor a message to them.
And I hardly think 'nice pic' constitutes as a decent message |

I've found them useful over the years. Someone winks, I review their profile and maybe wink or message back. It's a simple filtering tool to work out who may be interested.
They can also be useful to nudge another profile user.
We regularly hear of single guys taking ages to draft personalised messages, to never get replies. If mutual winks are exchanged then it can save much wasted message effort and relieve forum threads from guys who need advice on message failure effort. |

"general question as anybody every got a reply from a wink on here
if not what the point xxx "
They have a purpose and people can take note or avoid. If you wink at a guy then you nearly always get a message from them so it clearly works. |

In my eyes It's a harmless ice breaker just to show that you like what you see.
I send them to gauge whether the person or cpl are possibly interested as opposed to wasting my time sending a message in case they are not and needlessly contribute to filling up their inbox (which often gets moaned about) |

they annoy the fuck out of me . i usually ignore them but atm im seeing what happens if i send one back( i dont even look at their profile ) and its nothing usually . sometimes they say thanks for the wink and it ends there .. just wish we could disable them then people would have to mail me if they wanted to meet up |
