The codine is addictive yes, u will need to withdraw slowly from them!
Long term antibiotics are horrid, hope u feel better soon and don't need them anymore x |

Yes you can, it does suggest you don't use it for an extended period.].....especially if the codeine dose is high.
If you think you're addicted to it, talk to your doc and get some advice....... |

You feel knocked off because after a month your White cell count will be low... Cocodamal can be addictive but this doesn't mean you are...get a grip.. Worry will give you a stroke quicker than the drug will become addictive.
Popping pills is a psychological addition not always a physical one. |

dr took me off ibruprofen as can be bad for kidneys . I managed a week skiing last week but today feel awful only few days left on antibiotics . Been ill for two months now in begin off being I'll smashed my face in as some off u prob know |

Co-codamol is a mixture of codeine and paracetamol. The codeine bit can be addictive (it produces physical reactions if stopped after long term usage) paracetamol is not, however, some people find they rely on non-addictive drugs on a psychological basis.
A common side effect of codeine is bowel problems.
Did your GP do a kidney function test whilst you were taking the ibuprofen? |

if you are on 500/8 dose shouldnt have too much of a problem - but reduce the dose - im on 240 mg of codeine a day and if i miss a dose i have awful withdrawel symptoms - codeine transforms into morphine in the body so treat it carefully |

500/30 2 pills 4 times a day plus antibiotics

I am on Co-Codamol tablets for arthritis pain and have been told I can take up to 8 per 24 hours.
In recent cold weather, I was taking the 8 tabs each day, but have cut back to 2 now, having read recently that Cocodamol induces severe fatigue, which is what I found out myself in the past 4 weeks.
Now, I sm using a Tens pain relief unit; wonderful! |

Ive had codeine and tramadol for years.. Right now last check had over 116 tramadol as im on repeat prescription and honestly I couldnt be arsed if i had either of them unless im in really severe pain.. I think im one of those weird people who dont get addicted to stuff |

My friend got addicted to codeine! She used to take to dissolving ones as they seemed to get into the blood faster!
She did have a medical condition previously which required them, but she became addicted. Shewould shake and get bad pain if she hadn't had her 'fix' after every couple of hours, and would panic if she couldn't find any.
I helped her come off them, but it took months. We had to reduce about 1/4 pill a week. |

I don't know what condition you have that requires these meds. Listen to your body. Always try to take the minimum you can get away with. Long term use can lead to addiction but they're still easier to get off than smoking. As you've only been on them for a month, I wouldn't worry too much just yet. They're relatively mild. If your quality of life is improved then stay with them until that balance changes. Good luck. |

All practice doctors are different, Co-Codamol is normally put on repeat prescription and supplied by makes such as Solpadol, Almus etc.
Simply read the patient Information Leaflet provided and it will give all facts & when not to take it.
eventually if continue taking 30/500's they will become similar to taking smarties - no effect as your body gets used to the dosage. There are few side affects and the most common is a dry mouth & constipation .
MST is far better for pain even the low 10mg although 2x30mg work a treat
The best thing I found for severe pain was a very simple solution - Whisky, although if you are also on anti biotic's, alcohol lowers the effect of anti biotics, this is why you are told not to drink alcohol whilst on them, (some think it has other effects and this is not the case) alcohol simply lowers the effect of the drug. |
