"Healthy foods and exercise... All these diets pills might work for a bit but as soon as u start eating properly and stop the pills you gain weight again"
Exactly. It's all a marketing ploy. There is no such thing as a magic pill or an easy route.
Control your diet and exercise. Simple and as easy as that |

Quick weight loss pills are usually one of 2 things...
Ephedrine (or similar) based and illegal so you're appetite is suppressed and you lose weight that way.
Or full of ingredients that are diuretics and shit like that so you'll piss like a racehorse and be dehydrated and weigh less. Look up the ingredients and google each one.
And they all say 'only work with diet and exercise' so fuck the overpriced and probably bad for you pills off and just stick with the diet and exercise |

eat differently to get rid of a belly (not that i can see one) but some foods cause bloating. bread is the main one.
if you lose weight it will come off from all over overall. |

Generally with all "miracle" diets pills and fad diets once you start eating again you pile the weight back on quickly and them ysyally a lot more on top. Healthy diet and exercise is the only way to go it requires more hardwork and disapline but is more beneficial and rewarding long term |

It depends on which ones you mean ! There are some (that you cannot get in the shops) that do work but like all drugs they can be dangerous and you would need to read up on how to take them properly |

Some ones like Grenade do work but they're just full of caffeine, it's not a sustainable of loosing and keeping weight off however they do work well if you combine it with exercise, eating well and plenty of water. |

It's snake oil! All the diet pills are rubbish, the only pills that will help with weight loss are steroids, DNP will shift weight but taken incorrectly they can kill you too so hardly worth it. |

If there were such a thing as the perfect pill... wouldn't most people buy it?
Weight management is 80% diet (balanced, varied and neither too fatty nor cutting fat out completely) and 20% exercise and as somebody suggested earlier, doing light cardio and weights is one way. Another way is to do HIT (High Intesity Cardio) for a shorter period of time as this, too can increase your metabolic rate beyond the time of exercise.
For me it always boils down to cutting down on my fav tipple - red wine and bubbly. Once I have had a glass... I am anybody's... |

Fast weight loss isn't generally that healthy, unless you're needing to drop it for medical reasons and you're doing it under medical supervision.
I think the more sensible solution, to deliver lasting weight loss, is a sustained plan over a longer period.
Research also shows that the moss successful weight loss individuals who keep it off are those who follow a combined programme of life style changes, including greater physical activity as well as dietary changes. For some, psychological therapy is also a major help, as many have issues that are linked to their weight problems.
I'd steer clear of any pill that has not been rigorously researched and tested and had its evidence published in reputable scientific journals, for peer review and replication. Without this, any company can pick and choose which part of its 'research' to use, cherry picking anything that may seem to show something that's a wonder.
There was a good book I read a while ago, called Mindless Eating. We're bombarded by influences throughout our lives that readily ensures that millions of us eat for more than our essential nutritional and survival needs.
If something sounds too good to be true, then it probably is.
I wish the op all the best. Good luck |

There's a part of a (meta) review of a range of weight loss studies that was undertaken a few years ago -
''RESULTS: A total of 33 trials evaluating diet, exercise or diet and exercise were found. Only 6 studies directly comparing diet and exercise vs diet alone were included (3 additional studies reporting repeated observations were excluded). The active intervention period ranged between 10 and 52 weeks across studies. Diet associated with exercise produced a 20% greater initial weight loss. (13 kg vs 9.9 kg; z=1.86—p=0.063, 95%CI). The combined intervention also resulted in a 20% greater sustained weight loss after 1 y (6.7 kg vs 4.5 kg; z=1.89—p=0.058, 95%CI) than diet alone. In both groups, almost half of the initial weight loss was regained after 1 y.
CONCLUSION: Diet associated with exercise results in significant and clinically meaningful initial weight loss. This is partially sustained after 1 year''
International Journal of Obesity (2005) 29, 1168–1174. doi:10.1038/sj.ijo.0803015; published online 31 May 2005
So, quick summary - sustained weight loss was a problem for all types of weight loss programmes, both diet or exercise alone. However, the most effective weight loss approach, based on amount of weight lost as well as amount lost after 1 year, was a programme of both diet and exercise. This was for people with a Body Mass Index of 25 or higher. |

Aphrodite - thanks
I wasn't totally on-message with what I posted, as I'd been talking about rapid weight loss - but my conclusion was the same - combined programmes of weight loss and exercise have greater weight loss amounts and greater amounts of weight kept off over time too.
The poor op isn't potentially in the same group as the people being reviewed, as he wants to drop 1 stone or so.
Like the eat/don't eat butter and fats argument, I'm happy to take government advice etc, but I like to know the evidence and make my own mind up. |

I have tried diet pills from a doctor, Ihad to stop eating certain foods and take as little sugar as possible. They suppressed my appetite and iIdid lose 9lb in 2 wks but one of the side effects was constipation! I tried everything to make me go naturally, in the end iI had to use laxatives. My bum suffered big time! If it wasn't for that I would take again! |
