"Wish I knew
I woke up at 4·30 thinking about kitchen worktop! We are having a new kitchen, so while it wasn't welcome it also wasn't as random as it first sounds"
What were you doing on the work top? |

Lights, especially blue light spectrum, will disrupt your sleep pattern. It's not advisable to watch tv or use devices with screen when you should be sleeping - I've done it, been logged on at crazy times etc.
Blue light will disrupt your circadian rhythm, resetting it to be your awake time, making sleep in the following days more difficult too.
There are tools that change the light colours on your computer equipment displays, such as f.lux, which are free. This software adjusts the light colour by time of day - mine currently starts making adjustments as evening starts to fall, then readjusts at dawn.
Blue light will be included within 'white' light spectrum, such as from bulbs, so it isn't just about avoiding anything that looks blue.
Otherwise, a good hot drink, such as hot milk, will relax and alter your brain chemistry, that should help move you towards sleep.
If I can't sleep, I sometimes set myself some ordeals that I have to get through, which are so horrific that sleep soon becomes an easy option. Choose your own ordeals, if you're in bed and considering getting up. |
