garage never paid the car tax

I got a letter Friday saying the cameras had photo evidence of my car traveling with no tax. Before collecting the car I paid a year road tax dvla daid today it was never paid.
I will of course be going back to the garage to claim for the year I just repaid back but i am absolutely fuming xxx |

"Dealers can still tax a car on behalf of the buyer I think,tax just isn't transferable anymore.. this is true! We just got a car and the dealer did it for us."
This what we thought they had done. But they hadn't. |

This is true, dealers can still tax the vehicle in the owners name, bit pants that the dealers have done this to you though |

You can check on dvla website, if a car is taxed, no good after the horse has bolted though. |

With regards to checking tax online, the website can take up to 5, yes 5! days to update itself!!
Just be aware, there have been cases since the new rules came in October where dealers have taxed cars on behalf of customers only for the DVLA to refund them to the previous owners! This would only come to light where the previous owners contact the garage asking why they have had cheques back from the DVLA. |
