I've never been but, would like to go.

Ascot always looks good. You won't see me with one of those hats on though.

Yeah been a few times, went to the grand national last year, really enjoyed it dressing up shirt and tie Mrs l in a nice dress, having a bit of a posh day out,

And then went to work races on a stag do fiver in to the cheap seats and take your own beer cheap as chips

I have been a few times and had a great time though you can get carried away with betting if you are not careful.

I go a few times each year. Generally the larger events Ascot Royal enclosure, Chetenham but have over the years attended smaller tracks Exeter, Newton Abbott. I have no idea about racing form etcetera but I do bet when there. Won some, lost more

I've been to nearly every racecourse in the country and many in Ireland as well.

I haven't had a bet in over twenty years though. Just got bored of it. Don't even watch it on the TV now. I might be going Cheltenham though but I will spend the day in the Guinness tent.

I love a flutter and don't do too badly thanks to my boss who taught me how to study form.

Still not been though, would love to go to Cheltenham next month. Last year I won over £700 Cheltenham week alone.

I live in Newmarket. Horses are every where here. I've been on racing here. I didn't enjoy.

Was nice to wear dress hat, but was..Too posh and boring. My best friend asked for company.

I think.. Races are only for making money

I saw horses after racings.

Each time my heart want to cry. They are so beautiful and intelligent and people just hurt them for money

B & M Bargains

Prefer quieter meetings. Was going to try and do all the courses in the UK but they did about 10 and gave up.

Might start having weekends away, racing in the day, club visit or meet in the evening

Glad you went first

I do not agree with it, same as greyhound racing, the animals are just a commodity, soon as they are past their prime slung aside to make way for the new money makers

When we go we allow ourselves a fiver a race, 2.50 each way on every race, if we win the winnings go in a different pocket, scooped 140 quid at the national meeting last year, I did get very excited lol

Great replies so far, fabbers!

In response to wanting to hurt horses, I'm surprised that someone from Newmarket thinks that. It costs roughly £20k a year to train and stable a horse, so it would be in no one's interest to want to harm it.

They can be like the babies of owners, too, so if one expects a jockey it causing it pain, they would soon be blacklisted in the industry!

I've wanted to work in racing for a while but it's never happened. Love going to the races, have been to about 15 different courses.

It's a great craic!

Used to work regularly around racecourses for bookmakers. If I go now it's a busmans holiday, but even I'll get the penguin suit on for Royal Ascot!

I used to watch a lot of horse racing when I was married. The Cheltenham Festival was as exciting as Christmas for us. I've only been to a race course once, which was Ascot to put a cash bet on the rails for a friend.

The land of grey peas and bacon

My dad used to breed racehorses and had Frankie Detorri ride one of his horses and it won...I have a relative who is very much in the racing scene. I've been to a few races and had a blast as we always used to be given a box..I miss those days

Agree with the poster who stuck up for owners, the firm I work for had a horse . Who despite being injury prone, ended up being fairly useful. We could have easily sold him for a big profit, but knowing he could go wrong anytime , we wanted to be sure of the best for him and know what happened to him. As it was he won a couple of races and was 3rd in a £75k race, before he had to be retired , he now lives the life of Riley as someone's pet.

Oh and BTW miss cheekychops...I can get access to a box at Cheltenham and Royal Ascot!!
