"I've had a message containing a video from an unknown contact, I'm a techno Numpty... are there malicious whatsapp viruses " Absolutely - whatsapp is no more secure than any other app and it is very easy to hide malicious code in pics and video clips. Delete is your best option ! |

"Thank you deleting... One more question can someone suggest how did they get my number? "
There are some what appear to be "weird" connections between different apps especially anything linked to google. I have had sudden entries in my diary which could only stem from information I put on whatsapp - just one example.

Someone may have added you to a group. I was once added without my knowledge by someone on here and something had happened and when got home I had 97 watsapp messages from people I'd never spoken to. I just hit the 'group block' button xx |

I've had a few. Bots randomly generate numbers and send messages. When a message gets through, they save the number. A pain but a bit like spam text messages, unavoidable. Block the number and delete the message.
