Watching the Wright Stuff today (god knows why- i hate the bloke!!!)
but there was a story on there about David Hay saying that his next fight is going to be as one sided as gang rape!
apparently there are now cries for sky to boycott the fight and not show it on tv etc as this comment has caused major offence.
i think it was a very ill thought out attempt at trash talk at a press conference. he should apologise for any offence this has caused as belittling gang rape and the effects it has on the victims is just wrong. |

it seems mr hays is not alone by misunderstanding the effects of living with rape and seeing it as a source of humour.
i remember one comment from a family member who said "I wonder what it's like to be raped, it can't be any different to a one-night stand"

actually you can all get off your high horses for a change, i know all about rape, my ex was by a family member, i also lived in a care home as a child and most of the femails there had been raped and many of the males.
however hummer is just a way for some to deal with it, i was infact told this joke by my ex, and she could look far enough in front of her to see the funny side.

A couple run out of money and decide that the wife should go on the game.
Husband says "You stand on the pavement and i'll wait round the corner"
A car stops and the wife gets in the bloke says "how much"?
The wife says £100. Bloke says I'v only got £20. Wife says hold on and she runs round the corner and says to hubby the bloke says he's only got £20.
Hubby says well give him a hand job.
She gets back into the car and tells the bloke and he says ok. He lays back and pulls out the BIGGEST DICK she has ever seen.
She then says to the bloke "hold on a minute then runs back to her hubby and says "Could you lend him £80" ???????
I suppose that could be considered offensive to poorer couples, prostitutes and guys with big dicks. |

rape is so commonplace that it is likely that every person on this site knows at least one person who has been a victim of rape, or even is one, you certainly do not hold the monopoly. you have a right to your humour just as we have a right to be offended...you have to realise that not everyone is going to appreciate such attempts of humour? |

There's no funny side to rape. |

Oh dear. can, worms, everywhere. Rape is a crime and shouldn't be taken lightly. If you watched the press conference yesterday with these 2 boxers then you would understand that their insults towards one another is part of the fight build up but sometimes people go over the top and lose their heads.I'm sure if you played it back to them they would be ashamed of what they had just said. |

There's a sort of understanding that disabled folks can laugh at disabled jokes - but don't let a blind person catch a deaf person laughing at a blind joke, that Jewish folks can laugh at Jewish jokes, Pakistani folks at Pakistani jokes etc.
Perhaps if the gangbang 'joke' had been told by the victim of a gangbang ......... but I doubt you'll find anyone who'd do that. |

Yes, sadly I've noticed that too...quickly followed by "pc gone mad" if you don't share their bad taste.
C'est la vie! |

whilst i cant comment for someone who has been raped as it has never happened to me or any one that i know of it seems that most offence is taken by those who are not affected by the joke. They assume offence on behalf of the other party |

I don't know how many victims of rape are on Fab.
I know many victims of rape never have anything at all to do with sex after they've been attacked.
I know many victims of rape are never able to speak about their attack.
Whatever the reason they're not here and not able to speak up for themselves. I'm happy to do it for them. |

Context is key - if you go along to a Jimmy Carr gig you know you are hear jokes which will push the boundaries on taboos like rape, incest, paedophilia etc.
David Haye has been an idiot by making the comment on a daytime tv show. There were likely to have been rape victims watching - and their choice as to whether to subject themselves to this was taken away.
I don't believe any subject is beyond humour or comment and speech should be free. But everyone has different sensibilities. If, like Haye, you recklessly disregard how others will feel about what you say then you deserve all the criticism you get. |

Think there is a lot of time people say or do things at the heat of the moment.
Also think that politics, race and religion are usually a mine field for putting your foot in it when trying to be humorous.
Any sort of sex should ONLY be consensual - End of story.
So to try an lighten the note, does anyone REALLY think Audley Harrison isn't going to get a real lesson in boxing?
Personally, hope that that fight doesn't get boycotted over what was an ill thought out slur on a rubbish career of Audley!

Slightly off topic, but I have to disagree with Notts on Jimmy Carr. Went to a recent gig on his Rapier Wit tour and one of his key themes is how audiences respond to humour in senstive subjects.
Agreed, he is not a Roy Chubby Brown who goes all out to be as blue and offensive as possible. But he does not tell 'nice little jokes' either.
And yes, I take Haye to win in three rounds. |

David Haye is a boxer - he punches people for a living and in turn gets punched as part of his job. An over-educated, professional speech-writer he ain't. Why do people expect any more from him?

Newcastle and Gateshead |
the problem is that the fight is already lined up to be shown on Sky "box office" Pay Per View....
so if you don't want to watch it.... don't buy it...
I personally won't buy a pay per view out of principle because i think they are fleecing me already without having to pay more so i'll watch it on the internet |

I suppose after 20 odd professional fights a wee bit brain damage is to be expected. |

I was going to suggest he could sign a Gift Aid form but it may well be that he's not a UK taxpayer. |
