I'm watching. As much as I can't stand what he represents he always comes across as a decent fella, that's why I voted for him in '97. He IS a likeable chap. Got better looking with age too.

"the guy is a lowlife don't buy his book."

The proceeds are going to Help for Heroes. No need to avoid it just because you don't want to line his pockets. It's always interesting to read about things of an historical nature from the person in the middle of it. I've read a few biographies and they'll all been fascinating.

I don't get it. On the Election thread there were not many Tory supporters, most were Labour. Yet it appears a lot of Labour people hate Blair's guts. I could never vote for a party if I thought it's leader was a twat.

It was interesting what he had to say and he came across as being genuine. Who knows though it may have been a mask for the public.

I never thought I would hate any politician as much as I hated Thatcher but Blair comes incredibly close and he's supposed to be a socialist? He dosen't have a shred of remorse about the WMD, David Kelly,Iraq war period and just gets irritated when journalists go on about it and don't concentrate on what he believes to be his successes. As one previous contributer to this thread so eloquently put it...he's a cunt!

a lot of people didnt realise he was a twat and you need to remember at that time everyone was scunnered with a tory government and the time was ripe for change x

I was one of those voters. I think you could have put Jack the Ripper in charge of Labour in 97 and they'd have still won it by a landslide, such was the ever diminishing support for the Tories at the time.

Whether there were WMDs in Iraq or not, Saddam Hussien had to be stopped. His continuing presence in Iraq destabilised the entire region more than it is today. He was a ticking timebomb liable to embroil the Middle East in a war nobody wanted - not them, nor us. His sons murdered and raped at will and decent Iraqi civilians lived day by day in fear of their lives. And this was also a man who controlled a very sizeable portion of the world's oil supplies. Had he stayed out of Kuwait he'd probably still be there now, but, in lessons learned from Hitler, if we'd left him in situ he wouldn't have stopped at Kuwait. He had to go and Blair & Bush took the correct course of action to topple him. Joe Public didn't have the stomach for an all out war so it was far simpler to use the threat of nuclear attacks launched from Iraq to hit European targets. He's not the first politican to lie, and he won't be the last so what's all the fuss about.

Top post Wishy!......we will never know half of what really went on, but that is nothing new....succesive British governments since the 1930's have all sorts of skeletons in their cupboards, if we knew half of what goes on no political party would ever have two terms on the trot.
