Good morning Fabbers.
Gosh it’s a misty morning. The pooch and I have been wandering in the woods, we had our ipoddies on , the pooch was listening to a live Bruce Springsteen. This got us to discussing your favourite live album, dvd or recording.
The pooch pointed out that most new beat combos in the hit parade don’t release live albums any more. His words not mine!
So what is your favourite live album.
The pooch will accept Concert DVDs lol
His and Mine is
Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band live at the Hammersmith Odeon, as it used to be called.
Its captures a wonderful moment in time, A young Bruce at his most poetic and soulful.
Have fun
(Ps if your reading this it’s on your memory stick, play it you will love it, it’s just your cup of tea. You know who you are. and post yours
I am guessing Embrace ) |

Was just about to switch the television off in 2005 whilst watching Jools Holland and this London girl started singing "Teach Me Tonight", in this quirky but undoubted quality sounding voice. Watched the whole performance and rembember thinking who the hell is that? Amy Winehouse.

I had a Bowie album with a live version of 5 Years on it...I thought it was David Live, but I've just checked wiki and it isn't on there apparently...must have been a foreign import, but it's one of the most awesome songs I've heard live...he sounded so anguished, was almost screaming at the end - it was raw emotion |

Thin Lizzy Live & Dangerous. Mainly because I was lucky enough to be at one of the shows. Phil Lynott was a great front man.
"Anyone got any Irish in them? Any if the girls like a bit more?" |

"Thin Lizzy "Live and dangerous" albeit it was a little bit "improved in the studio" after the shows were recorded "
Allegedly. But as I was at one of the shows I would say it was as near a perfect gig as I have ever seen, and believe me I have seen a few. |

showing my inner anorak, there was an interesting interview with Tony Visconti (who also produced Bowies better records) and he said quite a bit of "tidying up" done. I saw them a few times but never that early, very jealous of you now! |

The Smiths - Rank
NOFX - I Heard They Suck Live and I Heard They Actually Gotten Worse Live
I have a bootleg of Joe Strummer and the Mescararlo's Acton Townhall FBU benefit which is amazing
Miles Hunt - Interloper. It's a cracking album and has the added bonus of featuring my laugh |

The trouble with live albums is they are such a mixed bag, Faith No More live at Brixton is fantastic whereas Soundgarden live on i5 sounds awful, but both are such great bands to see live but it doesn't always come across. And you will know us by the trail of dead are another one to see live (Camden April/May time) but because they've skipped through so many labels it's unlikely you'll get anything more than various youtube conversations. |

"Bruce Springstein and the E Street Band Live 1975 -1985; The River and it's introduction is, possibly, my favourite track.
RIP to Clarence Clemons 'The biggest man you ever seen'."

I always brag that I used to go see them at Woolwich Poly for 50p - only band that got the entire stoned audience off the floor and on their feet (yup, we used to lie around on the floor at gigs back then haha!) |

Slayer decade of aggression. But the one I love is ginger Wildheart at the 12bar you can hear me and a friend singing sky chaser high, a great gig with everyone in the room pissed and happy. Every time I play it brings back memories of that night. |

I may be in the minority but I don't like listening to live recordings, I don't want the interference of the audience when I'm listening, no hand claps, no sing-a-longs and no throwaway banter
Ok I sound a miserable sod I know!
I do have Echo and the Bunnymen's Breaking the Back of Love on the go though |

Walked into the lounge one evening circa 1974, tele was on. Royal variety show or command performance, whatever. Some old rocker was beltin out a couple of numbers, caught my attention big time!
Who's that, I said. Everyone looked at me like I was some alien from outer space.
JOHN LENNON they said.
Dire Straits-Alchemy! Best live album bar none! |
