aye but we barely scraped through against a team that are god knows how many places below us in terms of world rankings.
The way big Craigy celebrated was embarrassing and over the top, you would think we had one the world cup.
I'll stick with my domestic football and be embarrassed by that lol |

Ah but Spain have only played once and they should beat the Czech Rep easily enough. Adraw between those two teams will still see Spain top the group on goal difference. An ideal situation would be for Czech Rep to beat Spain but that's unlikely. Still, it's a good start for the Jocks. About time they played a major comp in the finals. Good luck to them.
(Yes, I'm an Englishman, but I'm a Brit too, so I want Scotland to qualify. Wales too, but they're in our group and I hope we beat them 10-0 lol) |

The 9 group winners go through automatically, as does the best 2nd place runner up overall, making 10 automatic qualification places.
The 8 remaining 2nd place runners-up go into a knock out stage of home & away games with the winners going through to the finals. Completing the line up for the finals will be Poland & Ukraine, who are hosting the tournament.
Scotland should have banked on 12 points from their 4 games against Liechtenstein and Lithuania but they were held to a draw Lithuania, and they'll struggle against Spain & the Czech Rep. It's not looking good for Scotland even at this early stage as a few of the other groups have their top two teams on 6pts already, and Scotland are topping their group on only 4pts. |

And in a scene scarily reminiscent of the Scotland Team - he dribbled before he shot - but he was wide and it ended up hitting some woman in the crowd.

It's really good of you to do all the "workings out", but there's no need.
In scotland we use a MUCH simpler system.
We get it to the last game of qualification, usually at Hampden.
It is all but mathematically impossible for us to qualify.
Unless we beat the Pitcairn Islanders 17-0.
Final whistle;
Scotland 17 - Pitcairn 1 (pen, 98 min)

Ain't that the truth of it. Would be nice to see them battling in a final again though. With the top quality goalscorers they've had over the years they should have done so much better. |

"should have".
But the days of being able to turn out a half decent team are behind us right now.
Funnily enough, our problem isnt too dissimilar to England - it's as much about how we approach it psychologically as it is about ability (though England are streets ahead on that front).
When you watch how well some really small countries do in tournament football, i can't help that pride and desire play as big a part for them as anything else.
I just don't see that same "hunger" in UK based players. |
