He has been one of the best and I have loved watching him over the years, but he has been awful in recent weeks. I hope Rogers doesn't give in to sentiment and keep picking him because it is his last season and does the right thing for the team by playing the players in form.

i think it was the right thing to do for the team in not giving him a new contract, Rodgers is looking to the future and despite him carrying the team at times and being an outstanding player most of the time Gerrard like all players is past his best..

He is a Liverpool AND England legend and deserves respect for what he has done for both! As a Liverpool fan I am gutted to see him leaving at the end of the season but I think it is time for him to move on and earn the big bucks before his retirement from the proffesional game. He'll definitly Never Walk Alone!!

I agree. I'm a massive fan but he was shocking against Bolton. Must be hard for him leaving the club though. He still has moments of genius albeit fewer.

Great stat, I suspect we will be waiting a long time for someone to replicate that. And I doubt anyone blames Gerrard for Englands woeful performances, just pointing out that perhaps he never quite emulated his club form at international level. Sadly the same can be said of many players in various squads at the same time.

A real legend though, although as his performance again showed last night, past his best.

He is no doubt a club legend and has given liverpool many special moments while been a rarity these days of been loyal to his club, but at international level he never emulated that form, therefore to claim he is an england legend is way off, a tremendous player but just never shone for his country, much the same as many others.

Blimey, this has all become a bit heated!

Gerrard was, without doubt, a great club player. But like Rooney, he is shite in an England shirt. Too many long Hollywood balls in to no where.

I personally believe he likes being a big fish in a small pond, which is why he never left Liverpool for a club that would challenge for titles. He would have had too much competition for being the Top Dog in a big successful team.

I wish him luck in the USA.
