...Up on the Downs

Anyone found a decent one? I've had one claim I did myself but have no idea if there are other bits out there on all the various minor card and accounts etc I have used over the years, and want a company who will do all the legwork for me. Anyone have any recommendations?

I've decided I'd rather have 80% of something than 100% of nothing!

Any company will take a cut of any payout, so I'd check out the 'Money Saving Expert' website first, they did have a proforma letter you could send out, also I'm not sure if it now up to the banks to contact customers in the first instance. I recently had letters from RBS about ppi, I hadn't contacted them but I replied to their letter and they paid me a good sum just recently (December)

You may be able to find any old credit cards etc from your credit history (again I'd go to Money Saving expert and do a search)

Anyhow good luck, hope it works out

Read of a guy who used one of these claims companies, they got him £10K compensation but charged him 80% of his compensation pay-out.

There's a new scam in town now, its a cold call to ask if you have worked in a noisy industrial environment, then its questions on what ppe your company supplied you with, followed by the offer of a hearing test to check if you have damaged hearing and then if you have they will make a claim on your behalf.

I'll check it out. I don't have dates or anything and swapped about to get zero interest so I really need someone to just do it for me!! MBNA contacted me direct and I just got a few hundred back from them.

I had them. They gave it up as a bad job, as I couldn't hear what they were saying due to having worked in a factory....

Standard form letter from FCA website. Sent 13... One had no PPI ten paid out in full and two refused. Appealed to FSO on those two and they were upheld and payed out so not bad going for an evenings work to send them all.... Google the company's site for claim info then send with what you know... Do one form on the pc and save them just change the company names as you go. Well worth the time and effort. Your bank should allow you access online to your statements for about seven years so plenty reference numbers... Now to dig a bit further back and see what I can get.. Go for it one evening and see how you get on x

FYI. They do not do ANYTHING. They cannot, and do not affect any outcome. They do not see your physical accounts, just the account numbers, cannot negotiate with the insurer, cannot negotiate with the lender. They will lick a stamp and send it to the bank, then sit back and wait for thei 40% commission + VAT.

(Not that I know anything about this whatsoever at all or anything like this or I would get fired for disclosure of information. Dont you know) lol

another things --- just to say. The number of third parties (as they are called) that are on watch lists for malpractice is growing and growing. They will transfer you to your bank, listen to your security information, then basically defraud you. It is up to you if you want to use them and pay them, and be a sucker for doing the leg work, making the complaint, paying the stuff in the first place, and allowing them to talk shit to you to have them sit back and do nothing and yet get paid.

I always wonder why I dont give my account numbers to all the weekly lucky prize draws I never enter, I totally should, totally missing out! I am being completely facetious there Britain.

Bank are now savvy to what is on Mr Martins site. It is classed as a personal miss sale. It is not a compensatory scheme. It is a personal complaint. You have to tell you bank why you are unhappy - what you were told, should have been told or how it sold to you. It goes back to point of sale. It is not a public compliant, it is a personal complaint. If you mention anything about Martin, it will be seen as you trying to scam the bank. Initial stages Banks needed to clear backlogs and would refund any complaint, but noow have more time to cosider complaints. That said - be honest, get pissy, get nasty, it is a department within a department that doesnt affect your future lending. so go nuts. You are aggrieved at PPI, so be aggrieved, otherwise you wouldnt be wanting your money back

This has been going on for over 7 years. The centres usually focus on coal mining areas, they do send those that sign up for hearing tests, but then call them back as they are tied to legal firms. The legal firms then seek compensation.

Problem is most of the firms paid the employees off when they made them redundant. Part of that redundancy (if the firm was savvy) was it was full and final settlement) once the 'hearing' company glean this, they rarely bother sending them for the hearing test. Shite heads again.

do a credit search on yourself hopefully it will show the lines of credit you had over the years... also think of any mortgage protection you might have had.

whatever lending you have had - whoever it has been with. All you do is phone them and say: "Hello, have I paid PPI?", "ok, can you send me all the information please, bye"

Go onto internet pages for your bank... Download your II wn banks forms. That's all I did. Also, you are not expected to keep records for more than 6 years.. Write that on. That's all I did. I fave them no acct info as I still a customer with same bank.. Be aware that if u have a credit card, and owe on it, and are claiming on it, if u win, your protection stops. It didn't affect me as 0 cc balance.

It stops as a result of any complaint or refunded monies. It is stopped automatically as it is seen as you did not want the product no matter what lending it was on, whether you are still repaying it or not.

The companies don't do anything that You can't. And they actually hinder the process a lot of the time.

I am talking from working knowledge now
