Google for free, adblockers and pop up blockers, I suppose.
Im sure someone who knows the score will tell you which ones to get.
I use Google Chrome and dont get them, but Mozilla at home does on this site, well it did this morning. |

Sometimes it's attached to a recently installed program. Might be worth looking at your remove programs option in control panel to see if you can see anything that looks like it. I've had it with free programs I've downloaded before. |

Also either doenload AdBlockPlus or AdGuard. They do a better job. Also Norton is terrible. When it expires get Kaspersky. More of a lean system.
As for Norton, how long of the subscription do you have left. People are right that it consumes too much on your system. If ages to go I say keep it to get your money's worth. |

I use Firefox as a web browser I use an add on which can block parts of websites that sometimes cause pop ups. It's all free so very worth it. Trouble is I'm at work and cannot remember the name. If you want to know a bit more or want more help inbox me I'll try what I can. Also try spybot search and destroy its a free malware deleting programme |

do not use the uninstaller or add/remove programs as this leaves part of Norton in the registry you need to go to Norton site & use the Norton removal tool if not done this way & you load another anti-virus program it will cause your computer to run very slow |

You will be fine uninstalling Norton, the above poster is right to a degree, but it will only leave registry entries which you dont need to worry about for now, concentrate on running Malwarebytes and getting rid of Norton, once you have done that come back and will advice you what to do next |

any one with Norton be careful when you remove it as I have said in my first reply the uninstaller does not remove every part of Norton needs to be removed with the Norton total removal tool which is on the Norton site,
Norton will not run with any other anti-virus program so ends up slowing the computer down
Malwarebytes-anti malware is a free program which is one of the best going as most threats these days are malware & Trojan if any one needs help let me know more than 20year building & repairing computers |

When you say screen keeps going weird how do you mean ?? It sounds like you have malware onboard ? Like i said push on through and get malwarebytes on ( google it and download and run )
That will certainly make a difference straight away, you may need a registry clean up too which is easy x |

I got pop ups etc recently when I installed another programme - and it installed a toolbar which it appears was connected to the crap I kept getting. It was carefully hidden in amongst the genuine bits I wanted to install. I went back to a restore point and reset, then reinstalled the programme I wanted, reading carefully what it wanted to install. I use Norton, and never had an issue with it, although will probably go with one of the free ones when the subscription expires. |

I'm seeing annoying/popup ads on the site.
We don't show pop up adverts on the site and we don't show any adverts at all if you are a site supporter.
If you are seeing pop up or unexpected/annoying adverts on the site, you almost certainly have "adware" or malware/spyware on your computer.
This type of annoying advert software sometimes comes with "free" software you've downloaded or arrives maliciously as a virus and serves up adverts to you depending on what you're looking at on the Internet.
You can learn more about adware on Wikipedia or read some tips for removing adware on about.com
