not far from iceland,,,,,, tescos is nearer though :-) (near leeds) |
Are negotiating their viewing contract, there are reports that each game will cost the broadcaster(s) 8 million .
If the broadcaster spends more the subscriber will have to cough up more... Will dig deep if you've got sky?
Hmmmm... Not Like the fans see the benefits it'll go in the players pockets cos they need a pay rise.

Supply and demand, i'm not jealous of their income (not inferring that you are either Op).
It should mean that the Premier League attracts the world's best players.
I'd welcome more broadcasters getting involved. Competition will help to keep Sky subscriptions in check. |

Rumours are it's going to smash the £4 billion mark this time round. Or at least be very close. After losing out on the Campions a League, Sky will not let this get away. I assume that it will be the same as the last 3 years with bt getting 2 packages and Sky 5. With the money BT spent on the CL and also now on the EE deal, can they afford to splash billions more?? Acing said that, Sky are throwing millions more into movie rights and own produced drama now so are they making their own contingency just in case?? Either way, it's very interesting. |

Sky simply cannot afford to lose the majority of the rights, so I expect the estimates to be conservative and there will be a huge increase. BT's firepower will have been dented by the acquisition of EE, but the Premier League are masters of the process and will convince Sky that Bein sport and others will be bidding up.
Don't have any problem with the clubs and players doing well out of the deal, but legislation needs to be put in place for a levy on the revenues to be directed to grass roots so encourage as many kids to play as possible, to improve the ridiculously poor facilities we have throughout the country and to provide a platform for more British players to come through the system and thrive. |

not quite the way this is going to work.....
what is happening today is the "blind auctions" where the different companies (mainly sky and BT sport) are bidding on different packages......
This time there are slightly more games on offer – 168, compared to 154 –
they are split across seven packages offering a variety of kick-off times and “first pick” opportunities.
Each of the packages must be bid on separately
no single buyer can win more than 126 of the 168 matches on offer.
For the first time in the Premier League era, up to 10 Friday night matches will be included.
remember that BT have taken off sky Champions league football from next season.... so it will be interesting to see what they try and do....... |

I would like to see a lot more english talent in the premiere league, its great when players like harry kane, raheem sterling, and local boy daniel sturridge emerge and do well, it gives me hope for the future of the england football team as a whole |

Big shame that Liverpool poached him from QPR although Arry wouldn't have played him anyway

I'll bin sky sports if they put it up radically. IF everyone took a stand and voted with their wallets costs would have to come down and footballers might have to downgrade to bentleys |

Was I right or was I right! No way Sky could afford to lose these rights which is why they have overpaid by £1bn or so. As for the Premier League, don't forget that this will set the benchmark for the sale of the international rights which will probably generate even more. So expect the clubs to get richer and richer while the fans get screwed and our kids are still forced to run around on boggy pitches with awful equipment and be forced to pay a lot for the pleasure because very little of the cash filters down to the grass roots. |

"£10m a game. The players will be even richer, England still wont win a tournament"
Greg Dyke needs to get on his hands and knees and build bridges with Richard Scudamore to ensure that some of this windfall finds its way back into the game, rather than into the hands of lots of foreign talent and agents. Football remains the national game, but it needs to stay in touch with its roots. |

It's nice to see the boot on the other foot for a change with ok' droopy chops, poaching Loic Remy before he got chance to sign for Newcastle and making Demba Ba's release clause public knowledge. He's unnecessary and has no obvious talent beyond a knack for near bankrupting clubs he manages! |

It'll be interesting to see what the club's spend the money on.. reduced ticket prices? Better pies?
I'm expecting lots of agents knocking on managers doors asking for new contracts for their players. |
